Default How likely to get a ban?

The question is in the topic title. I myself have not yet encountered and I know that multiboxing does not violate ToS. But, nevertheless, at this forum sometimes there are topics from players who have received ban. How real is the threat?

Recently, one guy wrote to me in a chat that I was a cheater, that he made a report on me, and so on. Two days have passed - all is well. But what if there are several such guys? Sometimes 2-3 guys hang around me, and they write in the chat "wtf is going here ???" Is it worrying (or am I paranoid?)

Another question is that sometimes one of my pawns randomly disconnects from the server. For no apparent reason, the Internet is working. Reading topics about bans, I realized that this is one of the methods by which the GM checks whether I am a bot. It turns out that I have already attracted their attention?

The best way to avoid a ban is to not call other players an eyesore?

Been boxing on retail for 2 years all the time, not a single whisper from GM but I've been checked prolly few times. Also, I've been called cheater, abuser for zilion times, still nothing happened ever.

Also, boxing on Classic as well, been called cheater trilion times. Nothing happened. If you don't do any fishy stuff, or really do things like making zone disruptable nothing will happen.

I believe that eventually, GM's/CS flag you as a multiboxer, and "cheater" reports end up being ignored.

If abiding by the rules, there is approximately a 0.721493% chance of having action taken against your accounts, although studies show that it is slightly higher in non-English speaking regions.

It goes hand-in-hand for cheaters to also be dishonest, so when they tell people why they got banned they generally dont tell the truth. Sadly you'll even see these kind of people contaminating this amazing community once and a while.

I was wondering about this because I got sick of horde camping every single FP with raid groups so I went to Freewind Post in thousand needles and took sole control of it for hours at a time. I Instantly killed the flight master whenever it spawned, the innkeeper, any civilians and of course any horde. Would that be against TOS? It sounds crappy but from a moral perspective it’s no different than what horde are doing elsewhere in the world.

in retail it is punishable, but multiboxing has nothing to do with the reason it isnt allowed(same rules for solo, group, and multi), and it's not a black and white decision but instead a GM makes their own choice whether or not the offender was causing the game to be unplayable for others by camping important npc's. The GM doesnt just outright punish the offender either, they do give ample warning and ask politely to alter gameplay. When you see someone punished for this offense, they will have definitely declined the GM's requests to stop knowing they are likely to get punished. (i personally believe it's a bad rule and signing up for pvp servers/enabling pvp means you should understand you can be attacked and killed anytime anywhere).

In classic when the issue first came up, blizzard took a hands off approach similar to how it was in vanilla. Only extreme camping was punished, and by extreme i mean camping for half a day or more, and the punishments were very light. But now with phase 2 and the impact it has had on wpvp they really can't punish anyone for it because of how prevalent it is. I'd be shocked if anyone got in trouble for camping zones atm. When BG's open up on Dec 10th all this changes and i think we go back to the retail-like ruleset disallowing it to nothing more than a couple sweeps through an area. But no worries, expect a GM whisper before you ever feel as if you are crossing the line and as long as you comply your accounts will be A-okay.

If the number of people that reported you was directly proportional to the chance of getting banned, every multiboxer on Magtheridon back in the day (and there were a lot) would have been banned repeatedly.

I've been multiboxing for years, and I get reported multiple times pretty much any time I'm on and not just spamming dungeons (and sometimes even then), and I've never had so much as a suspension for anything. Follow the rules and everything will be fine. And even if it isn't, you can appeal and should get your accounts back.

The only suspensions that might have resulted from my multiboxing are to people reporting me because they either told me to kill myself or used various slurs. I can't confirm - I just tend to ignore people once they cross either of those lines, so they cease to exist for me - but I've been told by someone else that at least one got banned for it.
