Thread: Small Freezes

    Default Small Freezes

Not sure if this belongs here but figured it might be a good place to start. I've been multiboxing since wow classic came out without any real technical issues until this last week or so.

When I first log in and play for a bit, maybe 15-20 minutes there are no issues but then I start to get split second freezes every 10-20 seconds. Once it starts, it gets progressively worse and after a couple of hours it's freezes so often that it seems like I'm playing with severe lag. But it doesn't really act like lag, when it's not doing the small freeze there is no delay like lag.

    A few things I tried or noticed;

    1. from what I can tell it doesn't seem to happen with only 1 toon logged in. Not sure if I waited long enough or didn't "do" enough. By do I mean run and instance or interact with mobs, etc.
    2. I tried disabling all of my addons except isboxer and ema, didn't solve it.
    3. I tried lowering my display settings in game, didn't solve it.
    4. deleting wtf, interface and cache folders
    5. It does it no matter which character is on my main display
    6. I play with 2 monitors, main character on main display and the other 4 on my second display
    7. When it freezes my FPS drops but then recovers instantly, usually to around 20
    8. After everything I try it seems to fix it, but before long it starts the freezing again.

Does anyone know of any program I can run to see what's going on or does this sound familiar to anyone?

My processor is intel i5-7600k @ 3.80, with 16gb ram, GA-7270x-ultra gaming MB, GeForce GTX 1070

I'm not all that computer savvy so if there is other info you need please let me know.

    Thanks

Are both ISboxer and EMA fully updated?

That sounds like an issue that was happening due with some older versions of addons trying to keep inventory &/or ammo counts updated across characters.

I had the exact same problem, it drove me insane! The micro stutters seemed to only occur in combat, with FPS always dropping to ~20. I tried everything, including disabling all add ons except EMA. Turns out, EMA was the problem for me. Try disabling it - It might also be worth updating your addons, too!

Ok, that sounds almost exactly what was happening. It does the exact same thing, in/out of combat and looting, or at least that's how I know it's starting. And EMA was one of the addons that I DID NOT disable. I'll give that a try and tyvm.

Hey buddy. Have you done anything to stop WoWVoiceProxy.exe from running? This process absolutely kills performance after a while of running, especially if you log in/out or switch toons, etc. Next time you're lagging, open up an administrator command prompt and type this (without quotes) taskkill.exe /im wowvoiceproxy.exe /f", then press up enter to repeat the command until you end up with just 2 instances of it running. Instantly fixes the lag if that's what your problem is. There are methods of disabling the wowvoiceproxy.exe but I haven't tinkered with them yet.

I haven’t even heard of this but I’ll sure check it out. Thanks.

Good point as that was a problem for me to and it was part of the reason I mentioned being on the most current version of ISboxer above (I meant InnerSpace).

I think both sources are fixed if you are running the most current versions of EMA and ISboxer.

In my case I was keeping WoW open for extended periods due to huge queues on my server and thus not updating InnerSpace nor Addons...

If you are still encoutering issues after making sure both EMA and InnerSpace are up to date, there are some settings in EMA that got it addressed from that source before the fix was deployed and for those on older versions of InnerSpace who don't want to update to the current version for some reason (highly recommended you do though) or for the multiboxing without ISboxer/Innerspace, the following is a permanent fix for WoWProxy.exe:

    https://www.dual-boxing.com/threads/...oxy-exe-issues

Even though I use ISboxer/Innerspace most of the time for my 5 clients I do launch at least my 6th client outside of InnerSpace and the above stopped it permanently for me. The taskkill helped prior to coming up with a permanent fix but it was more of a band-aid and temporary relief.

I'm not on the latest version of InnerSpace. I'll have to get that updated.

I was having similar issues. I was scouring the internet, and I found https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wo...-delay/81715/9

Guy said moving the game folder to your drive where you have your windows installed. I did that, and it fixed it for me. Don't understand why it would fix it, but it did. Only applies if you have multiple drives obviously.

I get that after I leave my game idle for a while. I just relaunch and it’s good for a few hours. I should try updating my EMA.
