As for the boss fights they have been rather simple so far, your pets are rly tanky and as long as u have mendpet macro's setup u should be fine. Struggled a bit with the stair even in ZF since hunters don't have much AOE apart from multishot (3 targets) or volly (1min cd)

I quested up to lvl 31 (grabbed the weapons from the STV chain) but i did do every dungeon quest in RFC,WC,SK, but once i got to SM i just started grinding that out from 31 to 40 (including a run into RFK and RD)

    Are u horde or alliance?
If ur alliance u can grab the "greater fleshripper" pet in Westfall at lvl 16 with an AOE spell to keep threat called "screech"
If ur horde i'd recommend getting the wind serpent and just have a /petattack macro and hit every mob until u hit level 32 and go grab the "salt flat vulture" pet from Thousand Needles with "screech" rank 2
Thank you so much for your reply. I completely forgot about screech.. This is going to be game changing for me now!

First: Thanks for sharing your setup!

    I have furthermore some question:
1)you work with one „screech“ pet or also other for different buffs/ability’s ?
2)which macros are you actually using?
3)what about your experience with pet happiness any problems ?
    4) you are driving with only „main“ hunter and all abilities are copied or do you also work with round robin?

You don't need to go full BM to pet tank in classic. If you look at the BM tree, the first 8 points give your pet 15% HP and 30% additional armor. Nothing else in the tree increases your pets EH significantly. You also don't need to worry about threat as much on a hunter compared to warlocks since hunters can feign death to wipe threat every 30 seconds.

Hunter pets have always been tankier than voidwalkers. My issue is that boxing hunters is kind of a headache in PvE and PvP. Managing pet happiness, arrow supply and deadzone is a pain. Pairing 4 hunters with a shaman might help a little with being AE feared if you're quick to replace tremors but the deadzone makes boxing hunters really painful when you get jumped by a few melee and can't do any damage.

I definitely wouldn't recommend 5 hunters. Not having a healer severely limits your options. In fact, I don't see the point of the OP at all. Why do you want 5 of the same class? You don't gain anything and you lose a lot. It's not really "easier" to box 5 of the same class in classic. The rotations are generally so simple for caster teams that there's minimal difference between a single class group or multi class.

Having a mixed combination might have simple rotations if you are playing PvE and dungeons, but if your ultimate goal is PvP (like me) I think we all can agree that having 5 of the same class is much more simpler than trying to manage 5 different classes and rotations while you are fighting many players at once.

Simple, sure. Effective? Not necessarily. Not having a healer in PvP is going to be worse regardless what class you choose.

I would never build a PvP focused group without at least one healer personally. That's one of the reason elemental shamans are so strong. They have great burst and solid cross healing.

    Greetings,
    Old school Vanilla Multiboxer here.

Up until 50 you can get away with almost anything, provided you have a way to heal and have some form of tank like a pet. Example my first group was 1 priest and 4 warlocks with pets. But post 50 once you enter BRD that's where your going to start to feel it. At this point a tank is needed. Even speccing in to Demo my lock tanking pets were no match, nor could I manage the control and placement that was needed to separate my group from the ads as pets don't always do what you want. Doesn't take two many cleave attacks from trash to mow down a cloth group.

On my next play through BC came out and I did 1 Pally, 4 Shamans. That was very strong compared. Also with the tank I could pull a group exactly where I wanted them and had more control. Night and day really. Had everything to do with having a tank in the group.

I also ran 5 Shamans. This didn't do so hot in PVE. One of my accounts already had a capped Shaman so I'd just switch out the pally with the shaman. This was mainly for PVP purposes, however in PVE, it couldn't compare to having the pally tank, it was painful running 5 shaman. After putting in so much time leveling two groups to cap, I can tell you I would never, ever run another group again without a tank.

I've been toying with the idea of returning in the future to boxing. If I do, I'd most likely use a Pally for a tank. I don't play to raid and those pally buffs go a long way over battle shout for cloth.

In PVE, you should be all set. While Warrior is "king" of tanking in classic, the reason for this is shield block for crushing blows. If were just doing 5 mans we have nothing to worry about. In truth, using a Druid tank has more value with your setup due to Buffs Druids bring the table in trade for a warrior shout buff for melee damage. I'd be totally content with your class selection

    1. Atm im running 5 Owls with Screech yeah, i am looking into maybe running a few others pets like a wolf for "furious howl". Also considering a turtle to just tank some of these higher up bosses (not sure if will be able to keep threat tho) and might throw in a cat for some dps boost. But i have cleared BRD with 5 owls and not been an issue as of yet. Might just consider carrion birds instead for they're higher base armor
    2. Simple marco's such as Petattack/petfollow/petstay & a feed pet macro & feign death trap macros
    3. No just use this macro (/cast Feed Pet /cast [pet] 0 1) Will feed your pet from first slot in ur bag
    4. I do run round robin for a few spells such as "intimidation" "Concussive shot" & "Scatter shot"
