Layering and the AoE grind

Hearing about a lot of people taking advantage of layering for AoE grinding in classic. How does one do this?

its for solo mages.. you AoE grind a large group of mobs.. then you ask for a party inv to another layer where the mobs are still alive.. then kill them again without having to wait for respawns. Check out JokerD's twitch vods thats how he got world first 60

With the ongoing DDOS attacks and the recent changes to layering, I would imagine there could be some issues.
