Managing a Healer in 5man group

Hi first time posting. So I have a Warrior | Magex3 | Priest team I'm leveling currently @ level 8. At the moment I still have my priest spamming smite alongside the mages. Which runs him oom quicker than the rest of the team and he's useless when the you know what hits the fan.

I use Clique to heal/bubble with the broadcast box in ISBoxer, when it's needed (rarely).

Should I keep doing this? Or take my Priest off of Damage all together?
Or would it be beneficial to just downrank is damage spells?

Also questing is a major pain with a 5 man team, should I just start mob grinding in dense areas until I can get into dungeons?

I’m rocking 4 locks, and a holy priest at the moment, up to 27 so far. The priest can/ should be taken off the damage rotation as soon as possible. Simply healing, and having mana ready for healing, is all the priest has to do. If you are driving from the priest, wanding can be good, but not needed. The wanding can interrupt/delay heal casts, so it requires managment

I stopped dps with my priest at level 12 when my mixed team entered RFC.
I use the wand macro when not healing.
