I've been converted to arms too. I like fury better for some intangible reason but sweeping strikes is too good for grinding dungeons to pass up and bloodthirst is pretty mediocre damage until you get enough AP for it to scale better than skills that rely solely on weapon damage.

Also, the first 11 points for anger management are a much bigger deal than many people realize. Being able to generate rage over time as well as retain rage while stance swapping makes macroing the rotation so much easier.

I started a 5 man hunter multi-box. I'm currently at level 24 on all of them. Just completed farming Wailing Caverns three times. My next dungeon I'll be tackling is The Deadmines.

First Post on the Forum ! Thanks to all for the advice and wisdom I have been able to access on the forums over the last year or so since finding this site. That being said, I would like to start contributing so here goes...

Regarding Group Comps: I struggled and struggled to find something that worked for me in Classic. In retail I have two teams; Druids x 5 & Hunters x 5.

I attempted with much frustration to make those two teams + warlocks x 5 and shamans x 5, only to give up once dungeons became part of my leveling plan. While those type of teams seem to scream up to levels 10-15, the minute I entered a dungeon, I struggled. And trust me, no videos were made nor would ever be shared of those chaotic, angst filled hours. So... to the forums I went...

It seems as though there are a lot of people doing Tank / Healer / 3 x something or 2 x something + 1 for added Utility (W, P, M, M, M) or (W, P, M, M, W) for example. I saw lots of posts for groups like this so I thought I'd give it a try. FINALLY I made some progress. Then I started to feel a little unhappy...

Was my group functional? Yes. There seems to be absolutely nothing wrong with a Trinity Comp. You can do dungeons, kill stuff for quests, just about anything you want to do, the group does it without complaint. I went with the W,P,M,M,W; so hearth-stoning + summoning or teleporting + Summoning is super efficient. I forgot who gave that advice along the way, but it is such an amazing time saver in Classic that without that little gem of info, I'd probably still be broke in game.

The real issue I had with this group was that because I was so used to playing 5 x same class in Retail, that I felt clunky (read: no synergy, etc. that people post about). I tried driving from the priest and couldn't get the hang of it, went to click through healing while driving from the tank and that was a lot better. For those planning to play or struggling with a Trinity Comp - figuring out healing and driving is a must do. EMA + Healbot or Clique makes life so much easier. Thanks again for those tips.

After much debate, reading, starts, re-starts, configuring, I went with Mages x 4 + Priest. Viepax on the forums inspired me to give it a try and it worked. I no long feel like I'm working in game, so much as I feel like I'm having fun again. Afterall, I don't stream or make money in game, I play for the challenge and fun of the game. If I'm not having fun, money and time is being wasted. Worse yet, if I'm growing frustrated I am then wasting time and money to torture myself.

I think the comp works for a couple of reasons:

    1) I played a mage as my first character and always loved playing the mage, although I never multiboxed a mage until now. Nuking is fun for me !
    2) I don't want to spend time trying to hold agro, position mobs, or otherwise tank. If I want to do that, I'd rather roll solo on my war and get a regular group. That is not to say a tank or melee is bad, just that its not for me. It seems to be a playstyle thing, more than functionality. (especially given how truly tanky, tanks are in Classic)

Final thoughts on Group Comp: Keep going until you find the one that starts to no longer feel like you're working, whatever that might be. If you're like me and see or read about folks happy with shaman x 5 or trinity comps, etc., but just can't seem to get it smooth or fun, change it up. Go with warlocks and a healer or mages, etc. Leveling speed is a good way to measure your fun, but not the only way to measure; meaning, if you find yourself doing things that are cool and you're getting exp, awesome. Keep it up. If it feels like work work work... well there is (for most of us) RL work for that work feeling.

    My best to you all.

I've been super interested in switching my warrior to a mage to make a 4mage/priest team. Team is currently level 28 so it wouldn't be so bad.

    1) Do you drive from the priest?
    2) What spec are your mages? primary arcane + a few frost?
    3) What level are you?
    4) How are you handling dungeons? Skipping a lot of bosses and just aoe farming?

I drive from a mage, and use ISBoxer with the click through to heal option (3rd tab on isboxer set up window) then have HealBot installed so I'm clicking left click for flash heal and right click for renews. I then use shift left click for a shield on my main mage to pull. My guys are now 29 (nearly 30) on mage x 2 and the priest and nearly 26 on the 2 other mages. All the switching around of group comps means i had to stop at 25 on my three guys to then level 2 mages together, then started grouping them at 22 when they got Arcane explosion.

I'm going down the fire tree with the mages so I can cycle in Blast Wave from one mage every few Arcane Blasts, to interupt casters, etc. Not sure how that will work out for me, but I remember loving it when I had one mage and played vanilla.

    Dungeons... well, I've only done...

RFC (didnt skip anything, but i was a trinity group then, so not really the same)
SFK (followed the advice to do everything but the silencing mobs area in the circle) I was doing this at 22 with my group, it is where I did my first grouping with the four mage 1 priest team.

I've now moved to BFD, farmed up 5 x Rod of the sleepwalker since I'm all casters and just in the last few runs started killing the last boss. I found that I could kill every boss in the dungeon, except the last one, when i was 26/26/23/23 on the mages. Upon getting to 29/29/25/25 I was able to kill the last guy without resist troubles.

Regarding pulls... I'm no super boxer with pulling skills worthy of a video... i started with killing 3/4 depending on the grouping, then moved to more like 4/5, then 5/8 on a pull. More than that and a mage is getting hit, gets space, nukers lag, etc.... just a pain. So, I'm trying to silence the first lagging nuking mob, running into the group while my team is following, then start spamming arcane blasts, while healing whichever toon is being smacked around.... usually the main mage since he is in the lead, hits first usually, and also has the best gear so dps is ever so slightly higher. At my level, im doing around 169-179 dps on all four mages on my average pull. I've been higher, but that's the meter right now as I'm sitting in BFD.

I've been running Prot. Paladin+3Frost Mage+Holy Priest. Waited until three days ago to get the group started as there was just so much competition on mobs and nodes for the Quests. So far it's been good, but yes the collection quests are a great pain. The group is at lvl 15 now, and as soon as I get to 18ish I'll be doing dungeons for the most part to get to 60. So far it's been a blast though

Neat and thanks for the reply! I've just started leveling a mage on my warrior account and have the team following out of group. The mage is getting 1/4 exp from kills when the team wands after tagging, but I think the quests will go so fast it won't matter.

Just hit 48 warrior, priest 3 mages, I've been fury with my warrior which has been good but when I hit ZF mobs hit like trucks but I continue to go that route.

Today I saw a streamer called SlothxHero, doing the same combo he was doing warrior prot gathering more mobs, surviving longer. His mages we frost and a bit of arcane.

I respecced to prot which is so much better, thou Ive kept my fire mages the same spec I just hit 48 which I get the new rank for flamestrike. Ill see how that is otherwise Ill respec to frost. For me I dont care for the bosses at the moment I care for the grind.

Just hit 25 on my Priest/4xMage team and has been pretty fun so far. Managed to get matching robes for entire squad

Great insights and thanks for sharing. I've been also experimenting on different team comps and P + 4M was my favorite too. If only Paladin Holy Shock has the 6 sec CD like in Retail and not 30 sec in classic, I'm sure I'll be rolling Pally instead of Priest and grab all the mobs in Strat like i used to.

I can't seem to make the ISboxer broadcast region work on top of Healbot. When the region is there and click healbot it doesn't work. When I remove the region the healbot works. Not sure how you make it work. I might just try Clique instead.

Anyway there are two things that's holding me back in pursuing same class teams and just continue to pursue my mix team W P M W H

    a) I want to have all classes in one account when I quit boxing
    b) I want to have a warrior and 2 shiny two handed axes as I stroll Orgrimmar (Makes me wanna roll Tauren instead)

Now the problem I have in Mix team

    a) Not as synchronized compared to P +4 M or 5 same classes on Wpvp and Raid
    b) When I quit boxing i'm stuck with 1 or 2 classes
