Default Trinity group recommendation (been awhile)

Haven't multiboxed since Cataclysm with 1 prot Pally, 3x Ele Shamans, 1x Resto Shaman. Did a lot of heroics with them, was good fun. Haven't played in awhile, and am just wondering what some of the more popular groups are. Likely starting on a new server etc, so doesn't have to be the old one.

Essentially just looking for a group that can take me as far as I can go in 5 man dungeons etc.

Not sure how comfortable I am with 5x Tanks, when I tried with Dk's it just seemed like a mess. Less complicated the better.

    BFA or Classic?

Classic is mechanically forgiving. BFA is not.

In BFA the current meta is highly mobile melee comps because melee get short cooldown kicks and a lot of abilities cannot be interrupted on bossses so constant movement is ideal.

Of course BM is very popular right now. As are the melee with utility like DH and Rogue. Elemental shaman is a standout for casters who are otherwise ignored.

If you intend to step into BFA M+ scene expect a very challenging end game. You may or may not like it. Personally it isn't my thing.

Hmm that sounds very different from Wotlk/Cata etc. Not good...I considered Classic but my worry there is at 60 there isn't a whole ton to do for 5 man groups is there? Not a ton of dungeons to gear up etc without raiding.

Its tough trying to find a team that works well in BfA.

I have the most fun on my 5 BM Hunter team, but its not for pushing, cannot time high keys. I try to get a good +2 or +3 key that I can easily time +3. That part is fun, hunters are great that far. The resulting +5 or +6 key can be completed, just not in time and with a few dozen deaths, but it eventually gets done. Not sure that part sounds fun.

I've tried a few different trinity setups, but I haven't been very successful with them. My highest key was with a trinity but highest timed key was with 5 tanks.

Edit: I don't play this season and little last season, things could have changed.

BRD is IMO the best dungeon the WoW team ever made. Though really there isn't much else beyond it. Upper Blackrock Spire? Maybe that's enough? Shrug.

Yes, retail is an entirely different animal than what the game used to be. Dungeons are now e-sport contests. Everything is movement, coordination and cooldown usage. A nightmare scenario for multiboxers and well that's that.

Maybe just IMO but I think the near future is a dual box setup with things like M+ and Raiding reserved for solo boxing. If that makes you happy.

Instead of classic, you could xp-lock your team at 85 and do all the Cata heroics, then xp-lock again at 90, etc. There is quite a lot of content to enjoy on the way to 120. For example the 3-man Pandaren scenarios can be quite a challenge (when at appropriate level) when most of them are designed for the players to be spread out doing different things.

Really appreciate all the feedback. I guess I didn't picture BFA to be so vastly different than what I was used to...Going to weigh my options, my perfect scenario I guess is a longshot, 5x Classic and hope in some miraculous situation that in a year or so Blizzard decides to have progression servers onto Burning Crusade/Wotlk.

I am going to try the same group I use to multibox before. The only difference is a warrior tank instead of a paladin. So it would be a Warrior, Priest (Heals), Shaman, Mage, Warlock (DPS). Now I have to learn ISboxer again. Looks like Trolls will be a good choice for all of the above.

Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?”
