    Default Level Difference Impact

what's the impact of level differences in group?

I am on a business trip first days of launch, and was debating leveling 1 char separately - What is the impact of having a level 13 in a group with 1s? Minor differences like +/- 3 levels should be fine in instances I assume?

This is theorycrafting but having a level 13 with 4x level ones will slow down there progress i think as its taking away from their xp and a group of 5 kills low level mobs almost with one shot anyway. You could do them as a group of 4 until they catch up as that will be more xp shared amongst them. Having a level 13 will have some money to which can help you get a bunch of bags for all of them faster. I you could level them all singularly through the starting zones maybe.

yeah, my problem is that i will at most have playtime to get 1 char to 10+ - And I dont want to start off Friday either having to configure a 4 box setup - Or hand leveling each of them.

I guess I can just getto run 4 of them in a 5 box setup through newbie area until they catchup.

According to wowwiki it says that xp formula when grouping with a lvl difference is:
    XP1 = MXP * CL1 / (CL1 + CL2), the experience awarded to character 1

So if mob gives 100 xp and character 1 is lvl 1 and character 2 is lvl 13, then it should give 7.14 xp.
If it gives 100 xp and character 1 is lvl 1 and character 2 is lvl 1, then ti should give 50 xp.

If the same formula is used for bigger sized groups, then it is 5.88 xp with 1 lvl 13 and 4 lvl 1.
Or with everyone lvl 1 it is 20 xp.

So according to this formula there is a huge drop off in xp.

    thanks, also found this: https://www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/...ce_in_a_group/

Sounds like I should definitely not stick in a 13 with 1s

You could 5 box an extra Warlock in the slot that the level 13 is on which would put you closer to having an extra summons option when the Warlock hits 20. Once the group is 13 swap the Warlock to the existing level 13. Even if you plan on having a Warlock in your main party, as long as the extra Warlock is on a different slot in your 5box group you could even send your main warlock back to town and summon him back.

Would creating a 5 man team and then dropping group with the high level for killing mobs after the group has tagged them work?

It worked before (used to powerlevel in dungeons like that).

I don't know if it works now but according to wowwiki:
"Someone else (ungrouped) helps to damage the mob. The XP you receive depends on if that someone else will receive xp for killing that mob. If yes, you get full XP. If not, you get a tiny fraction. It doesn't matter how many other ungrouped help damage nor how much damage you done."

According to that information you will still lose a lot of xp because of the high lvl player. It might not be true though... It might work or it might not work.
