To try to help I put down some team composition thoughts for you in your '3 mages or 2 mages 1 priest for dps team' thread. Was real tired last night while typing (so sorry if my comments didn't make sense) but my main concerns were that you really need 2 healers in World PVP (or at least a viable off-healer) and that you can't switch specs very often in Vanilla/Classic. The only 2 classes that I remember having a single spec that could do multiple roles were Paladins (being able to switch between main healer and dungeon tank (but not raid tank)) and Druids being able to have one spec that can do most roles semi-decently (if you swap full gear sets). Those were the main points I was trying to make (& I don't know if there is a single Shadow-Priest DPS spec that can easily drop to be a main-healer or at least be a strong off-healer). The other concern area was that I wasn't sure mixing melee and magic DPS made the most sense compared to other options for multi-boxing so I wanted to give you some other ideas to consider.
Personally I am in the Central Time Zone and most of my friends & family are Central with a few Pacific so I was hoping to see momentum on a Pacific PVP server as people on both Eastern and Central can play on Pacific time if the Pacific groups start between 5-6pm Pacific but many Pacific groups cannot play on Eastern if it starts before 5-6pm Pacific.
So far the only Americas server that I have been seen multiboxers stake a definitive decision on is the Eastern PVP Herod server but unfortunately all those groups so far are Horde... I was thinking of making a Horde group there for some fun World PVP Chain Lighting & healing craziness and making my Alliance group on a different Pacific PVP server but maybe it would be best to just commit to one faction.
What do you think about going Alliance on the Americas' Herod server which is PvP Eastern but also where most of the Americas Horde Multiboxers seem to be going?
Like you I plan to main raid and do BattleGrounds (BGs) on a Paladin at end game and my 5man group is mainly to feed my Paladin main gear & gold via Dungeons. Secondary goal is having a strong melee BG option for my sick brother but odds are he won't play that much and he will pretty much only do BGs or World PVP. Tietieary goals are having a WSG Flag runner and stealth group option (so I am going 1 Druid+2 Warriors+2Paladin as my initial 5 man group to cap with those goals in mind). Bottom line for me is that I only really need to solo or duo in BGs or WPVP...
My main concern is that Chain Lighting and Chain Heals are just OP for boxing so Multibox Alliance vs Multibox Horde would be pretty imbalanced (in strong favor of the Horde). With that in mind I was thinking of having a 2nd horde shaman team later for WPVP with the Horde Multiboxers but if we go Alliance on Herod our accounts are locked out from Horde on Herod.
Historically I ran up to a 10man team (mostly Shaman) back in BC/WoTLK so I could maybe re-enable my 6-10 accounts so I could still do it but really don't want to go more than 5...
Anyway, what are your thoughts about rolling Alliance on Herod and locking ourselves out of Horde on Herod?
Alternatively we could do Alliance teams on Faerlina or Thalnos (both also Eastern PVP) and focus on our Paladin mains there and then have the option for a mostly Shaman 5man team on Herod for some WPVP Multiboxing craziness later once our mains are where we want them.
