    Default Targeting nearest enemy

Is there a universal key that would make both my characters target the same mob? I notice sometimes when I cast shadowbolt, but we go after different mobs.

I'm levelling two locks btw, still a noob.

What you need to do is have a macro set up on your clones that will assist your primary. That way, when you select a mob to attack, you hit your assist button then they all should be on the same page (some lag issues can mess this up, but it's typically pretty rare).

    The macro should simply be:
    /assist name
<Lunatic Rising> Fenris (Horde) US, PVE

5x Shamans: Khazarel, Khazrael, Khazrela, Khazreal, Khazeral
    1....10....20....30....40....5052...60....70

1x Paladin: Rhaeryn, 1x Priest: Valyon, 1x Druid: Thaedyn, 1x Mage: Runare, 1x Hunter: Alef
    1....10....20....30....40....50....60....70

No, there isn't. The /targetnearestenemy and /targetenemy keybinds are not absolute targeting binds. Only way to be sure is to target with your main, wait half a second to a second depending on how laggy your setup is and then /assist with your alt(s).

or use the focus oriented macros and click... wait 2 times your latency... then fire (no need for assist key)

check this post for what i mean about focus oriented targeting:
