Default What should I replace first

    Hello guys,

I am curious what would you replace first from this pc setup list:

2048MB ATI AMD Radeon R9 270x Series (Gigabyte)
    16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 799MHz (11-11-11-28)
    Intel Core i5 4690K @ 3.50GHz 44 °C
    Haswell 22nm Technology

    Thank you in advance.

I would get a nvidia 1060 6gb vram card, minimum.

You could then play 4 atleast. 5 would be possible, but kinda unstable, as you will max the 16gb ram. So.. if you have a motherboard that is able to use 32gb ram... upgrade grafixcard and ram. And get a big aircooler for the cpu, so you can overclock to 4.3 to 4.5. Should have temps at max 70 c with 5 games running then.

But then again... its a old system. Itl be ok for up to 5 though.. at 1080p with settings 1 (main can have some settings increased), 60fps front.. 20 fps back..any more than this and you want to upgrade basically everything.

If you plan to play up to 10, with similarish performance as the one you have (when you play 3-4) get the 8700k, or 9900k, budget depending. And atleast 32gb ram (motherboard should be able to use 64gb, in case you need more ram) and a 1070ti (1080 if possible).

More than 10 and / or want increased performance ? = prepare to spend some serious dollars.

Well, IMO your bottlenecks are all so close to each other that you really aren't going to buy much by upgrading anything individually. WoW is less CPU-bound than it used to be but it is still CPU-intensive enough that increasing resolution or FPS will push your CPU use up as well, resulting in marginal gains in playability. Do you use slot-swap detail macros e.g. stuff that adjusts renderscale, etc.?

You will need to get a completly new system to achieve this, to play 5 flawlessly while in a hectic setting with many other people. We are talking 12 core / 24 threads (the first 2 cores/4threads unassigned, for the OS, then 2 cores and its 2 related hyperthreaded cores, to each game), 64gb ram, 1080ti, overclocking etc.

the money you spend on a cheap additional PC can probably get you better quality of life spent on your current main pc upgrading something, like an additional 16gb

ps: unlike what wowbox40 mentions you certainly don’t need 64gb to 5 box. I stream 5 box in hectic bfa assaults with 32gb no problem

    * Caveat: if you're a fan of using VideoFX feeds to monitor bits of your alts on your main, dual PCs won't support showing you feeds from clients on the second PC on your main PC. You also see a pretty dramatic divergence in cursor position when you turn on mouse repeater depending on your setup, moreso than you do on a single PC. Not ISBoxer's fault to be sure but it's something to keep in mind. That said, it would definitely cut down (potentially) on expense, though if your "cheap" second PC is *too* cheap, you're just asking for headaches.

I do agree that you don't need 64GB of RAM or a 1080Ti or a 12-core CPU to 5-box. You're gonna suffer in massively overcrowded areas but then I don't know anyone that *doesn't* see a performance hit in those areas. You could always test it out on the highest-pop server's most overcrowded faction and see how it does.

Like I asked in the other thread: do you use slot-swap macros (with renderscale settings, etc.) to help out with performance? You might be surprised at how much you can gain through the creative use of detail settings.

I don't even know what are swap-slot macros. Basically I don't use videofx ever, since i basically have usually from 40-80 keybinds and I bind specific heals etc. I only set the settings in wow on lowest, I use swap on demand (for more fluid swaps) and my main screen is usually on 50fps and background from 14-22 fps.

I didn't mess around with more complex options as I like to keep it simpler as possible for fluidity. I am also open for any tips.

edit* I use main on my screen and usually all my other toons are on my tv which is usually shut down so i don't have anyhting cramped up on main screen so i can do things properly.

Well, I was thinking of buying a new pc. I currently have a 1200-1400 $ budget. What would you guys recommend and would the pc in that range be better then the current one? Do note, I meant to box 5 man but not on the highest settings. Just normal settings, hopefully without spikes. I won't be in Orgrimmar anyways, unless i need to learn/vendor etc.

Also I don't think that the spiking will be too much of the issue unless its 40vs40 Tarren battle

Well that probably explains a lot.

(Seriously, even people with fast PCs use these; it just makes sense.)
