The function is literally using the API that Blizzard provides for all add-ons to use, and it's been available (previously, in JAMBA) since, at the very least, the WotLK expansion.

I'm playing Classic (I hope this addon is compatible..) and I saw that there's an option to make toons autofollow after combat and that alone made me want this add on. If I can do that I'll be very happy and figure out the rest slowly. But it defaults to have a menu that is right over my action bar at the bottom covering up my keys. The menu bar is for doing some Quest stuff like abandon quest and share quest etc. How can I toggle this off?
Press Alt and then left click to move it. It's the item bar and can be turned of under the settings.

I turned off the item bar in settings (are you sure it's not a quest bar of some kind?) and it's still there after reloading the ui.
that is part of the quest log ui, are you sure you have the latest version of EMA?
