Thread: The Pally Blog

  1. #1

    Default The Pally Blog

    Hi Guys/Girls/Aliens

So I have been reading these forums for a long time and I wanted create a kind of blog where people can follow my progress in this expansion or for however long I decide to multi box

Hopefully this will help people in deciding what they want to do and maybe the issues i face and fix will be help others, my apologies in my spelling and grammar as English is not my first language you have to bear with me

I will post my daily Blog in this thread and keep updating it with new posts it will mainly be about things I did and issues I faced and problems and decisions i needed to make.

Day 1 - The beginning and the questions
what class to roll????? that was what was plaguing me all these days trying to figure out what on earth I want to play, I knew that 5 x DK team was strong self-healers and had the ability to tank high keys BUT without a healer was the self-heals enough for the tank to survive damage? I didn’t think so.
After a long careful deliberation and asking my wife (who told me I am a child lol) I decided that I will go with 5 Prot Pallies with 1 gearing up as holy. Now some might be thinking why? Well I thought of the following:

    Advantages

    • Shield Tanks OP right now
    • The Interrupts on them are going to be insane and with many Mythic+ dungeons trash requiring interrupts to avoid massive damage I can avoid that
    • The AOE damage should be really good with many Shields and consecrates popping off
    • The chain pulling with certain traits will be good to speed up time
    • Justcar Trait I think is the name would be optimal here since judgement is critical in my rotation

    Disadvantages

    • The inability to do insane single target damage to kill bosses quickly
    • All Melee can cause some issues with certain skills on certain bosses
    • No Diversity could get bored quickly lol

Based on my playstyle, what I love and the above advantages I chose to go with 5 pallies, So I setup my isBoxer and I can tell you what setting it up is not that hard, very quick and easy payments went through L sad to see so much money go to something I love but it is what it is

I used the install wizard and everything went smooth, but I ran into some issues as an all melee comp which others might have solved by now, the key issue is when I go into combat initially because they are following my master character the slaves correctly position themselves BUT if there are more than 1 mob and its further than the original mob then the paladins would sit there doing nothing until I hit IWT (interact with target), I realised this when doing Underrot normal and completing it, BUT I couldn’t fix it properly.

I think the solution will be to bind my IwT to keys I press normally like judgement and get them to IwT while in normal rotation. How did I go in underrot you ask? Well I smashed it with 5 prot pallies, never had any issues getting topped up, I went crazy on the pulls and it ran smooth as a new borns baby’s butt.

    Underrot Normal Attempt

First Boss – Very Very Simple tank him in a corner hold your master characters Crusader shield, once the new add spawn shield him to interrupt and bring him in, AOE him down and when Creeping ROT I think its called happens run to the other side of the room and rinse and repeat the fight.

Second Boss – Tank it against the wall forget about running over adds as you are a PROT pally you will destroy them, stack the entire group and tank the regurgitate strike with CD’s on all characters(shield of righteousness )

Third Boss – Once again tank and spank don’t bother with mechanics – you will have enough DPS to burn down this boss without the need to bubble more then once. Once the stacks get applied then you can bubble and zerg boss down.

Last Boss – Stack on boss when he does his AOE ability then run through him and then start kiting him every other time he does his AOE cone attack, you should kill him within time.

Ending day 1 on a positive besides the whole melee Hitting the correct target which I will fix when I play tomorrow.

PS I wont have a big blog entry tonight since I will be raiding on my main so I might muck around with fixing my Tab targeting issue.

Till next time Shield you later

It seems that not many people post there and if I just keep posting in here hopefully it will get more exposure for people that use the forums, if the mods think i shoudl move it i will but i personally never check that when i want to read information about people multiboxing right now. (dumb of me but forums gives me the chance to interact with people)

Day 2/3 - The Grind and the beginning of the end

Sorry for the lack of updates maybe no one cares but maybe someone doesJ, regardless here is a quick update.

So I got to 120 within 2 zones, I kind of got really bored doing the same thing over and over again so I made this plan where every 1hour I would do a dungeon just to change things up. Now this was easier for me since I could instant Q with 5 pallies since they all cover the slots needed. The most annoying thing about this is the bloody Specs change to what you queue as, which I don’t know how to stop if only someone could tell me how to stop it.

So after hitting 120 and because I do not have world quests up and I really DO NOT WANT TO QUEST ANYMORE (jokes I’ll go back to zuldazar later this weekend to finish it so I can get world quests) I decided to start the gearing process. Honestly I am having so much fun gearing again, with every boss having something I can use for one of my toons it’s amazing. I have learnt so much about each fight so far on normal in preparation for mythic, the key dungeon I have concentrated on is ataldazar so far I have learnt a few things,

Not all mechanics are multibox friendly, like the Princess fight in Ataldazar where you have to run into the bloods before transfusion. This is where the creativity of a multiboxing team is needed. Here is my TIP: When she gets to 90+ energy/mana start manually controlling each toon to go to the bloods, don’t leave it until transfusion starts as its going to be too late. (You all probably knew this but I did say what I learnt) The rest of the fight is tank and spank, swap to add with your IwT let the DPS kill the add and come back on boss

Now Rezan is interesting not because he is a super hard boss but because me having 5 prot pallies makes this fight a tank and spank. The only thing I needed to sort out was macros for casting BOP on targets with Pursuit/Devour, so to give some background I tried to actually do it normally BUT there is no point if you can cheese the boss. Having 5 pallies gives me 5 bops, 5 bubbles, 5 flash of lights going off back to back, meaning that even on tyrannical weeks this boss shouldn’t give me a problem. But I did have to deal with the LOS issue, so to make it easy I have made a macro that has

    /target (name of master)
    /cast Divine Steed

I then use the isBoxer in-built follow macro and I manually make the slaves hide with me so they don’t get feared.

So far it’s been fun, I have been learning so much about dealing with mechanics and timings of boss I am moving onto the next boss which I know will be the hardest to deal with, but I think I have a plan to deal with those bloody totems J

    Anyway until next time

    Shield you later

PS: Item Levels are 305,308,301,298,310 (got lucky with the world boss)

    Congratulations on reaching 120.

I am the opposite of you this expansion. I enjoy the questing not the dungeons.

Yeah i just cant do it man, the amount of times you have to do the collecting of the items and then the RNG of the items dropping and sometimes IwT will bug out due to instanceing of the mob when one person clicks it.

    So annoying

Start my prog for the climb to m+10 thats my goal

Why would you have to change specs? You can have all 5 pallies select the option to go in as healer, tank or dps on the spec select screen upon queueing.

I never had any issues like that across three teams I took to 120.

What I was saying is that if i Q up i have to select a spec to Q up as, if I have all 3 then it will make one of my toons a tank 3 dps and 1 heals, when you get ported into the instance it will have automatically changed your spec... have you not had this happen to you? or is just some addon of mine lol that i dont even know

It actually happened on many occasions during Voldun when I was questing, for example there is a point where you click on the flying mob to fly around and if the master clicks before the slave and a slight delay happens the slaves will not be able to IwT because i dont have a target they can see selected,

In regards to RNG of items, NAzmir was the worst with many quests requiring you to click individually OR loot mobs that drop X items, and usually one character would get more or less of that item due to RNG then others... bloody annoying is all i was saying

Fair enough. I guess I've just become comfortable with all the little quirks of multiboxing and found ways to work around them such that it doesn't bug me as much as it did back when we walked uphill both ways barefoot through the snow and glass shards.
