Thread: Mages?

  1. #1

    Default Mages?

I was thinking for an alternative server of rolling 5 alliance mages for a pvp fun. So far I have done only horde and never mages.

Can you 5box mages or are they tough due to the need for mouse for things like blizzard or dragon breath?

How does sheep work when all should be targetting the main's target, is there a macro to make them target other mobs?

would 5box mages be good for pvp or woudl 5 shammy be better?
    Pally Tank:Pally Protection Tank
    2x DPS Shammy: DPS Shamen
1 x DPS Druid: Balance DPS Druid
1 x Resto Shammy: Resto Shammy

Shammies would be more robust, but being able to 2-shot epicced out level 70s at level 66 does have a certain appeal. :P For sheeping, you can do a round-robin assist sheep macro (which is what I did) or you can setup for focus sheeping (search for that around here; lots of other threads on it). I'd probably not roll 5 mages just because they die so easy. I'd roll a pally or priest main for rezzes and heals/tanking. You can also do blizzard with the minimap ping thing but you'll have to set that up differently (again, search around here for the thread on it recently).

Suvega 'boxes 4 mages and a priest (and swaps out a mage with a warrior for normal 5-man instances). Works great, though he really doesn't use many of the targeted spells.

What you can do for sheeping is use a /focus. On each mage, just /focus a different sheepable mob and use this macro:
    /cast [target=focus] Sheep
5-shammies do better in matches were defense is key -- they can heal, dps, and their totems work great for defensive purposes.
Mages do better in battlegrounds, where all-out-offense can be a winning tactic. Suvega regularly wipes people on Vann/Balinda by running in there, PoM+Pyro'ing the tank, and AE'ing everyone.
    TBC/Wrath Multiboxer: Velath / Velani / Velathi / Velatti / Velavi / Velarie [Archimonde (US-PvP)]

I'm glad I chose mages to start out with on my first dualbox attempt.

For extra shits and giggles, I have the arcane explosion button the same as:

    /cast [target=player] Circle of Healing

on my priest. Everytime I explode I heal everyone for 1k +.
Basically I live till I oom. It's really fun.
