Another way to do the part with the cats is to setup a small vFX window for each, in the corner of the screen for real estate. These are then given mouse broadcasting. So I don't have any latency on a window swap.

    Mine looks like this:

Then order them so it's easy to follow for each click rotation:

In each step, click the windows according to the called name. Make sure they are all zoomed in. Sometimes the NPC will get in the way so you'll have to start over.

It took a total of 3 attempts I think. The first I just didn't account for the absorb difference. Corrected that, cat lady got in the way of one and wouldn't go away. Third was a charm.

I came here to post with the same subject but used search first and found this thread, so posting here.

This mount is a super huge pain to get (even with the guides) but it's soooo worth it once you have it - choose your team composition carefully as you only get a 450% 5 person flying for that team. (240% ground in kul tiras/zand). Having my 5 guys 1 IWT away from mounting is just wonderful.

For yellow, do bring everyone and more as you can loot yellow infinitely - I invited folks to come loot after I was done and got extra characters the yellow one just in case. also the instance bugged for me while using the addon (which is a terrible chore) so I ended up solving it manually the 2nd time, buy setting the outter layer first etc... much better. You can also just join an already solved one and loot

Red monocle is terrible pain, it's super easy as a druid (600%+ swim speed there!) but as a team... even with the sea horse, it's cutting it close each time and 1 of the fishes has that terrible behavior that it keeps moving, so I ended up loosing the gold on all but 2 of my guys as a result. But given how the mount works, you really only need 1 red.

About the cats, that took me a while... my code was 67724 so I made 2 target groups, one with 1,2,3,5 and one with 1,2,3 and manually petted the 2 7s first (bringing it to 66624 left) sent iwt (without changing actual target) to group 1 twice bringing it to 44424 then 2x group 2, bringing to 22222 and then 2x to everyone... bingo!

So just so I am following all of your correctly, if I get this mount with a specific team of 5 (my 5 druids, for example) then they will only be able to hive together with members of that original 5 man group? Meaning, if I switch one of the druids over to a different team, I can't hivemind the new 4 into that single druids hivemind?

The mount works like a regular 5-man mount for everybody.

If someone summons the mount and you are in that persons "hive" you will give them a % speed bonus. If you're not in their hive then you wont.

Check out Xyl41's post on first page for the speed bonus testing.

That post is a bit confusing, specifically (excerpted below, bold mine), Xyl41 states that the druids (who were the "group") could not enter the Hivemind of a paladin who didn't earn in. However, the speed examples look like the druids could enter the paladin's Hivemind. as there's a speedup once the second and later druid enters the mount. I think the sentence about druids not being able to enter the paladin's hivemind is likely wrong, but I don't have personal testing to validate that.

At this point I swapped back to my paladin for speed tests.
    Paladin: Orgrimmar (310% flying)
    Hivemind mount (0 inside) - 430%
    Hivemind mount (1 inside) - 430%
    Hivemind mount (2 inside) - 430%
Hivemind mount (3 inside) - 440% [Sservis - second druid from group enters here, so there's a speed boost in the data reported, conflicting with sentence above]
    Hivemind mount (4 inside) - 450%
Paladin: Zandalar - Pathfinder Part 1
    Hivemind mount (0 inside) - 240%
    Hivemind mount (1 inside) - 240%
    Hivemind mount (2 inside) - 240%
    Hivemind mount (3 inside) - 240%
    Hivemind mount (4 inside) - 240%

You are only allowed to group up into the Hivemind mount with the other characters you did the questline with, but there was a bug early on that allowed you to enter into others' Hivemind mounts when not having done the quest with them, or at all. Furthermore, if you want to change the set of characters who can group up into the Hivemind together, then you will need to redo the questline with that particular set of characters (it is repeatable).

So JohnGabriel's statement that it works like a 5 person mount is incorrect? And it was the data results in Xyl41's post that aren't accurate (changed after the fact), not the text.

I thought there was some weirdness and was calling out that the referred to post was ambiguous. Thanks for clarifying.

Edit: Did a bunch of web searching and it looks like the mount is nearly worthless (they've disabled it in BGs and maybe M+, it's character specific, etc) In the open world it would have use, but that seems to be about it.

Got the mount last night. It does not work in M+.
I don't really care for the tentacle squid thing that it is, but it's function is amazing.
With my DK piloting, it's 40% extra boost on top of the regular DK/Pal boost.
Being able to get from place to place without having to worry about your followers getting stuck is a huge deal for me. Overall I think it was worth the investment if you have a set team and stick with it.

    My recap on difficulty.
Red monocle took about an hour total, I had never stepped foot in Vashj'r on this team so I had to do the first quest to get underwater breathing.
Yellow monocle I used the addon and it made it pretty simple, just time consuming. I also accidentally clicked the middle when I was complete and not the chest and had to redo it. You only have to do it once for everyone to loot the chest.
Green Monocle was probably the easiest. travel time total maybe 20 minutes.
Blue monocle took a bit because I wasn't in a guild, so my hearthstone was 30 minutes, but also pretty easy.

next section wasn't too bad using 120's just auto attack each mob to 20% and then stop to make sure all were at that point.
For some reason I got the cats on my first try without doing anything special.
I put each character next to a cat and my number was 66127 and my char 1-5 had these numbers in order.
So I clicked on char 1 , then char 2, then char 5
    repeated that 6 times
then clicked on char 2, char 3, char 5
    then char 3
    and it worked fine.

The next piece was very easy for boxing just follow the instructions given on the guide for who clicks what.
The last piece was a bit of a boggle to me to initially get going, was also probably because I was tired and past my usual bed time, but it makes sense after a bit and then boom mount!
