Default 5x Hunter team, question about pets and Azerite traits.

So i hit 120 on my hunter team yesterday. I never mained a hunter so Im not an expert on pets. But after looking at Petopia a little bit, it seems like I need to figure out what buffs/debuffs Im missing from the lack of diverse pets Im running.

What would be an optimal group of 5 BM pets...... strictly for PvE,

Azerite Armor. So there are some traits that seems to buff your team. Like BattleField Precision, Collective Will, Incite the Pack, Tradewinds. Is this just a gimmick or is it something that would help since with are in a goup 100% of the time?

You'll want a dps pet, a tank pet, and a spirit pet.

When doing world quests, all 5 of my team uses a DPS pet for the 8% runspeed buff.
When doing dungeons, all 5 of my team uses a tank pet for health.
When doing dungeons and I need a heal I dismiss my tank pet, call my spirit pet, heal, then dismiss and call my tank pet back.

If you do not have a water walking mount you may also want to get one of those water skitterer pets to gain water walking.

I also use a macro that turns growl on while solo or in a party, and turns growl off if in a raid. This fixes how WoW turns growl off in dungeons automatically.

For Azerite Armor, I do in fact choose the ones that buff additional party members. I may also choose a self heal over a dps trait as my dps if fine but I could use more health.

For your Azerite traits just use bloodmallet or a similar site, it will show you the best traits for DPS and that's all you would care about as a 5x hunter team in instanced PvE. For world PvE (doing wq or farming for example), things could change, but I do not know enough about hunter azerite traits to know the answer.
As far as pets, I would think you would want all 5 spirit beasts as your default. You would then want utility pets based on what you are doing - so a couple pets with dispel/tranq and a couple pets with battle rez to change to based on the encounters.

I’d be curious to know how good that team is in M+? Like highest key? Impossible bosses?

Bumping this thread with a more broad question. Do you guys do mythic+ with 5 DPS? Was legion the end of the golden age for DPS teams? I'm asking because I'm planning to start a new team in 2019, after miserably failing to master a trinity team at the beginning of BFA.

Yeah I think you need a healer. It is not necessarily a trinity team you need, 4x hunter and 1x healer probably do OK. I am going with the trinity setup myself with a tank&healer I can switch to dps for wqs.

But then again when the next raid comes out we will get another iLvl of gear drops. Maybe then we will be able to out-dps the boss mechanics.

I would recommend driving from the healer in BfA and add IWT to your melee DPS rotation. It makes things much easier with all the mechanics we have to deal with. But definitely drive from the healer.

    Default Also curious

I was having the same question- i have been playing around with the mechanics of my three hunters but before i go trudging along in levels i figured if i am going to go with 5 it might as well be now.

I was thinking of adding 2 more hunters which is great for DPS and gear sharing but healing really seems to be necessary with the minor heals the hunters have. Well that and 110 boosted gear to start off with that is.

So I figured hit Trinity also and just embrace the suck of getting a team to run right.

I guess if i may ask since it goes along with the original post and doesn't hijack it too much-

Tank- Paly or DK personally think i like Paly but i have no real experience

Healer- Holy priest or? Seems like Holy priest is the main embodiment of a healer but again i have no clue about healers, if driving from a healer there might be less issues but i have read that the holy priests have less mobility while healing then say a druid.

Then add in the current 3 hunters and away we go... their dps is really nice so add in some survivabilty and it will be a beautiful thing.

    Thanks!

Duly noted. I’m struggling to decide if I should level two more hunters to get 5, then take them each individually through heroic raids to gear them for m+. Or just one hunter and go with a healer that I already have and gear the team all together by doing m+.

I just started multiboxing when they had the holiday sale. I am playing 5 BM hunters and started running Mythic + at the start of Season 2. I've been making steady progress and we'll see how it goes deeper into the Season. Never did BFA dungeons until this point so big learning curve. So far I've done a +5 Shrine (not on time) as my highest. My best on time run as of today is a +3 waycrest in 29 minutes.

I use 5 porcupine spirit pets and have heals pointing at my toons and also another macro'd to /assist me and heal my target in case one of the guys is taking a pounding. Get a 5% HP boost, 20% damage reduction on 3 min cooldown. I use drums for my bloodlust even though I have a corehound that can, I just like having the spirit pet up all the time.

Azerite traits I aim for are is to stack primal instincts and stack head my call. One feeding frenzy at least as well.

My impossible boss right now is the end of Siege of Boralus, just pet pathing issues and moving across the areas. So many drownings.

My top 4 favorite so far that I can do on time are Motherlode, Freehold, Tol Dagor and Waycrest Manor.
Middle 3 that I can do, but slowly, are Temple of Sethrallis, Kings Rest, Shrine of the storm (lack of checkpoints makes me sad)
Bottom 3 that I just don't want to touch for this comp are Underrott (last boss really), Atal'dazar (the totem guy is tricky), and Siege (last boss issues)

    Posting progress videos here. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLU...8HTH6mGBeAEE9w

I'm having a ton of fun and blame my friends for their lack of playing for this new twist on playing wow.
