Thread: 4 Hunters + ???

Do pet resists stack with shaman resist totems? If so that would be another nice synergy for hunters.

I have a 70 priest but am leveling a shammy with my 4 hunters (all at lvl 38 right now) to see if the added buffs make up for the worse healing. I am hoping chain heal + mend pet + earth shield can get me through some of the outlands instances.

Undead priest IMO. I've tried a pally and while they're very survivable against melee, against casters they're no better off than the priest and the pally heals just don't compare to a priest's big heals or insta heals or renews or CoH or PoH or bubble or pain suppression, etc. etc.

All just my opinion, of course. I've only played a priest and pally up to about 60 with my old hunter PVE group. My pally/priest are both 70 on mag but I haven't used them with hunters yet.

Regarding your question on which pet to use, I prefer using a boar for each hunter. They eat just about anything, have high armor, and have the charge/stun/interrupt ability. I used ravagers for a while, which have great dps, but I just couldn't stand to hear the sound they make when I send them in to attack. I know it's a goofy reason to abandon them, but it really got on my nerves after a while.

I use a priest with my hunter team and although I can't add any additional dps buffs to the group, I can add a significant amount of health and survivability.

Have any of you higher level hunter teams tried mixed pets for PvE? I know a few of the pets have nice utility abilities like Screech, Furious Howl, Poison, etc.. What combinations have you tried or thought about?

I'd consider for my 4 hunter team PVE:
1 Wolf for Furious Howl (for pet dps), 2 Owls for DPS / AOE aggro, and 1 Boar for tank / charge

How about 4 Gorillas for AE? I know the Ravager, Raptor, and Cats are better dps, but is that dps really needed over potential utility / survivability of the others? I mean... with 4 hunters focus firing, stuff won't live long anyway.

Boars are getting nerfed soon. One reason they are so good for PvE now is that when they "charge" it makes the first "growl" they do such a big agro that is next to impossible to get agro from them. thats getting nerfed. However, they are still going to be excellent pets for PvE and PvP due to that charge+stun ability they get.. and if your BM.. you get intimidate as well.
