Default Real ID's in friends lists.

Hello, I'm seeing my real name show up on 4 out 6 of the Real IDs in the Blizzard App friend list, and I'm sort of assuming my names will also show in-game.

I stream, and would prefer not to broadcast my real name.

I'm hoping I can choose a battletag or alias on the unmasked accounts to block out my real name. Just wondering of someone knows that for sure be possible. (I mean, it sure appears to be possible... just very busy getting stuff organized to get back into WoW.)

    Thanks

[Edit: Actually got an HH mount in 2018... on separate account 6. One to go! In 2019, my last BNet accout, the main one, got the HH mount. End of an era.]

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately unchecking that box removes the battletag, leaving only my name showing

Under "Friends & Chat Settings" on that menu there is a checkbox to "Hide friend's Real ID" -- with the stipulation that the setting only affects the Blizzard client and not the games' display. So, solved for the launcher.

Maybe I don't understand where you're seeing the Real ID name, but it sounds like you've added yourself to your own friends list? If so, why can't you just add yourself to your friends list with the BattleTag instead of Real ID, to avoid showing your name altogether? I don't think there's a single benefit to using Real ID over BattleTag, is there? I dropped Real ID years ago when BTags became a thing for WoW because: A) like you, I didn't want my full name showing up everywhere, and B) other peoples' names were showing up in my chat window as I was recording videos. So, now the only thing that shows up on other peoples' game clients is "BTagName has come online."

I've also disabled Real ID in my account, so perhaps that's what you're looking to do, instead.

It comes down to the specious case of being able to do cross realm grouping, which as far as I know requires RealID. Or does the new community system make even that obsolete?

Never was a fan of Real ID.... I call RL friends by their game name IRL. And, yeah, my bnet accounts are separated, so it was my own name showing. (And I just tried setting up SMS Protect.... where they limit you to using one phone per account. Now I apparently need 5 more phones.)

If you want to do cross-realm grouping, you simply type /invite charactername-realmname (you don't need to be on anyone's friends list). If you use ISBoxer, it already does this for you assuming you've given it the proper character and realm names.

Realid and btag is the same the only thing not the same is name.. and how you add them to your friends list. One is a tag#xxx the other is email if, there your accounts just remove them and add back with tag#xxxx simples!
