Multibox trough home streaming with steam

Perhaps some more information is required here - What is the technology you speak of, and how could/would it benefit someone looking to multibox?

Some times i can only sit on my macbook but have access to my main computer through the internal network. I wanted to make use of this streaming service but can't figure out how to get it to work. So i was wondering if anyone else had tried it
