Was it me? I wasn't sure if it was my macro or the addon, and just wanted to ask. I was trying to be gentle and supportive.

If it was me, I'm very sorry.

A lot of thoughts swirling in my head at the moment so off the top of them: Ebony, thank you for your input and effort going into this addon. Jamba has been one hell of an ambitious project that seemingly has gone unrewarded and all too often without appreciation.

Having said that this departure comes at a rough time. With everyone coming back and struggling around the updates leaning heavily on existing addons is a necessity. There simply isn't any time to stand up something entirely new and in my estimation, Jamba is irreplaceable for a few reasons.

To that end I'm considering my options around those reasons. For the time being I'm debugging an older version of Jamba. I'm not a LUA developer much less knowledgeable about the WoW API so it'll be some time before I have it all figured out. I am however emboldened to do this.

Another thought running through my head is a new approach. A new addon or set of addons not entirely built for multiboxing but general enough to appeal to a wider audience. These could and should be all be separately made addons for the purposes of widening the audience and appealing to a larger base.

    - Party-based questing: Sharing, Accepting, Tracking.
    - Party-based loot sharing: Trading BoP based on need.
    - Party-based profile sharing: This one would require some thought.
    - Multiboxer core addon: For alerts, follow, taxi and vendoring.

    Shifted out entirely:

    - Inventory management (offloaded to TSM).
    - Display team (offloaded to Grid).

This would trim down the root of our needs to a much smaller addon while shifting the other parts to a wider audience and possibly other developers.

Thoughts? If Jamba isn't going to be around in the future would this be the best way to start over?

I don't fully understand the rationale around the older version of Jamba.... Ebony did a great job with Jamba and the current version is really good. It was bloated before. Still is in a lot of ways, but she trimmed the fat as best she could and got it up and running well in the new 8.0 world. The new Jamba EE works great. of course there are bugs... its software, but its pretty damn good. Why wouldn't it be around in the future... the code is still there, it can be maintained and upgraded. Hopefully Ebony comes back and keeps up the good fight even though there are dicks out there... if not, the code is still around. We can can take what she has done and keep it going. There isn't any need to "start over"...

But that said, I don;t disagree with you on the trimming aspects... there are definitely some pieces that are handled by other addons... they could be slashed to trim the fat and keep the multiboxing core of Jamba going.

Jamba / ee is right now too ambitious and too large for one person to deal with. That was the point I was trying to get to. Cutting the fat is extremely necessary and to a large degree cutting features is too.

By cutting out features and moving those features to standalone addons I'm certain some things need to be redone entirely. That's the "Start over" part.

I only went with an older version to get acquainted with what was. It seems to be working for now (taxi, objective tracking, quest sharing). It also doesn't include any new bugs so with 2 days to go it seems a logical path to tread. My main concern is having these QoL things for launch ironed out. Long term though the addon we consider the multiboxer part should be far smaller than it is today.

I agree.... and I think that is, unfortunately, what drove Ebony to the edge... cutting features and getting rid of the cruft thats built up over the years is critical... but each feature out there has a champion... and potentially a vocal champion... cutting anything gets met with drama...and I'm sure it got old really quick. The more code in there, the more code that needs to be maintained day in day out... most people don't get that... give me a flag or a checkbox to turn the thing I like on or off seems easy, but... it just adds to the pain of maintaining going forward.

Exactly. The problem is maintenance more than anything. It's also easy to chug out thousands of lines of code in an hour only to regret it a year later when your brain isn't in the zone of writing it any longer.

Each feature should have its own champ and developer ideally. Like Grid it's a scenario of we use it but we don't maintain it if we can help it.

Blizzard jist outrights remove api for no reson stuff thats been in for years thet dont really doc why or how somone uses it for somthing they dont like they a: hardware event it ( needs a real keypress/click) lock it to there own code olny ( look at auto lfg tools) turst me i hate to be that dev.

As well i dont want anyone using my jamba-ee code why such code is "gone" 4 not

Even though i did a lot of work on jamba whatever was nerver mine in the 1st place.

Players dont like change they dont like stuff going.

Sruff i nerver used (friends i talked to nerver used) av been cutting down on.

The biggest biggest problem is isboxer clears the team list and adds every toon bk in on login av been trying to stop this for ages but with "x" servers and other stuff i guess its easyer to keep in isboxer

Telling every user to disable the isboxer was getting thin fast becouse master not setting right toons be orderd wrong and tags/groups getting removed!!

I tried supporting the single profile users that used that even though jamba is not really designed to do this but every time i talked about stoping them removing team members i got s&&t from him so you can thank him!!!!

Most of my drama is coming from users not here curseforge is hell there. And why all my jamba ee code got removed from there.

Going for forword curseforge will not be used by ema..

Ema is my addon and or though the code is using some off jamba its not jamba so i can do more stuff i want to ill make a new topic about how u download it etc on there.

Ps: jamba sounds like a drink anyway!!!

I don't want to step on any ones toes or annoy Ebony further but I've updated Jamba for 8.0 from the 7.3.5-5.4.1 release on Curse, seems to work so far without errors. I'll post a download link once it's tested a bit more or Ebony can even look at it and put it on curse if she wants to. If any one wants it now you can msg me on the ISBoxer discord @Venomisto and I'll send you it.

I should probably clarify that I'm looking at the same release. The API for 8.0 has changed a few things around. You won't notice right away but there are problems.

Yeah I've updated all the libs and fixed pretty much all the 8.0 documented function/event changes as well as a few undocumented such as healthstone res functions being removed etc, they all work again so far. I'm sure a few more things will popup but so far playing most of the day with no errors. I've done all the usual things and fixed them as I went, questing, mounting, flightpaths, ressing, trading etc. I haven't played with tags but I doubt anything there changed. I just wanted the main functionality fixed before BFA launched so I can actually play and not fix things.
