Mice seem to eat batteries like crazy. But the wireless keyboard? MONTHS of use without a battery change.

And Xzin read my mind. Hack that thing and add a wall charger. A wired wireless keyboard. Excellent."
Hmm that's odd it's usally the other way around for me. I bought a rocketfish mouse like 6 months ago. Original batteries and has never once had a single problem or any lag whatsoever with it.
This is entirely dependent on the manufacturer. With wireless mice, they set up the firmwarer such that the mouse usually has three operational states: 1) fully awake and transmitting, 2) light sleep and transmitting a quick burst every so often and 3) deep sleep with no transmitting at all. Within those settings they can also tweak how long it takes to go into the next deeper sleep state. Some manufacturers spend enough time and effort that the battery life is 80% greater than the average. Some just do the cheapest thing they can ship and boot it out the door. :P

My logitech El Cheapo(tm) basic cordless (M-RAT95a) mouse that I use for alt quest turnins and flight paths and such hasn't needed a new battery since I bought them several months ago.
