    Default Graphics Card Advice

I have a card that has served me very well. The card is an NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GS. About a month ago (before I found this website), I began playing two toons (on a single monitor) and noticed a problem. Occasionally, when the screens overlapped, the foreground window would begin to rapidly alternate with the background window. It's not a big deal. Simply moving the windows off of one another solves the problem.

However, this has motivated me to look for a graphics card better suited for WoW and Dual-Boxing that costs under $500. So, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Michael

I think just about anyone around here will recommend an 8800 card:

I'm less familiar with the different versions (gt, gs, gts, etc) and don't personally own one, but I've seen these threads enough before and the recommendations come from trusted sources too many times to not throw it out there myself. They are out with the 9xxx series now, but I've heard those can be unstable atm, whereas the 8800 is a rock solid card that is a guaranteed good choice. I intend to upgrade to one myself sometime in the near future.

If you choose the 8800 GTS, make sure you go with the 512 MB version opposed to the 320 MB or 640 MB.

The 512 MB is a newer GPU core, and therefore much faster then the 320 MB/640 MB version. The 8800 GT is almost on par with the 8800 GTX, while the 8800 GTS 512 is almost on par with the 8800 Ultra.
