I am 41 and been retired for 5 years now and more than anything I value is time. More importantly is time spent with family/teen daughter. I always have tried to be the most efficient with my wow time as well. Time spent farming gold is very inefficient especially for tokens. Perceived value from farming gold gives the players a certain feeling that they are getting something for nothing. Nothing could be further from the truth. Most players are young and unaware in the value of time.

I have been fired now for 5 years and I hope you all get fired as well.

Echoing what Fat Tire said: $75 that the wife budgets for my WoW accounts subscriptions is a drop in the bucket compared to the value of my time.

If I go farm something (Mounts, Instances, Gear, Gold) it's the choice I'm making to spend my time that way. Not at all because I feel compelled to do so in order to exchange in game currency for real life time. It also keeps me from getting burned out. I have enough other hobbies and such going on that burnout is always a real danger for me. Multiboxing is how I relax and decompress.

Time is the most precious resource humans have. Spend it wisely.

I really don't think any of us would play at all if we didn't enjoy farming at least a little. Its pretty big part of the game.

Farming is overated. Imagine you have 10 accounts. You have a job og bills to pay and a life. If you close to perfected farming certain mobs /cough you could get over 100k per hour with some lucky drops. Lets say you press the buttons more casually you could gain that gold in 2 hours or so. Congrats, you now almost have enough to buy a wow token for one of your toons. Now imagine doing the same thing 9 more times / days.. now realize your fingers and hands etc are going to get absolutly smashed by this keypressing...its not feasable for a long periode of time. And its boring.....it will be..... Now on the other side...if you play correctly and use the ah...and have characters on different realms...and just casually scroll you mousewheel up and down every now and then, ..while watching a movie or doing some homework..you can earn multiple amounts of gold compared to farming mobs or herbs or whatever. It does take effort to setup, but worth it.

I pay with my real money, like most I work and value my down time on WoW and so don't want to grind.

I do find it difficult gearing atm though, more lack of knowledge than time though!!

As I've been gearing up a fresh 5 box team I've found doing the weekly world boss in Broken Isles, then doing the weekly Greater Invasion in Argus, then clearing all the quests and world quests in Argus (Random drops of currency to buy 910?ish gear with) then do the Emmisary chests everyday. That seems to be working out pretty well for me as an ultra casual player. Also check the weekly bonus quest in Dalaran, it rotates between Battlegrounds, Mythics, World Quests, and something else that I can't think of atm.

I make $40/hr working and I am not married, no kids, no smoking nor drinking (not heavily anyway). 5 boxing doesn't kill me. I've been 2 boxing for a bit though as I'm just more comfortable with that being older (slower reflexes).

When I do buy alcohol I'm astonished at how expensive it is. One bottle of Jameson is more than my 2 wow accounts monthly. If I had to buy one of those every Friday for a fix and cigarettes on top of that I'd probably not be multiboxing wow.

Don't get me wrong I love a mixed drink on Friday but I bought my last two bottles of rum and whiskey back in November. I still have the same two bottles. So I don't go nuts on it. Besides, my mixed drinks tend to be very heavy on sugar which is a no-no the older you get.

My subs are WoW, Netflix, Amazon and Phone data plan which is all I need for entertainment.

Only what hurts the most is when you buy expansions, but to be honest, I do not buy games at all. That also safes a tons of money, don't drink, I don't smoke, I dont go out, I dont have time. Married with a kid. $75 is not whole a lot, to get you going with 5 accounts, ones you farm some gold you can even pay for some accounts with tokens so that could leave you to pay for 3 accounts. My thing for example is to start again to box, I have 10 Legion accounts, But start small again with just 5 hunters, Allready bought one expansion to see how it is, so i need 4 more, $200 dollars - boost hunters to 110. My goal is to do 10 accounts, so pay for 5 with tokens and 5 for real money. It's not so bad at all, when you have a steady income, multiboxing i find interesting , not just smashing the buttons but finding mechanics and trying to stay alive....while running through instances- cheers! Some people even Box 3 Accounts.
