Default Lack of new Multi-boxing friendly games

Anybody else feel dead inside with this? i return to the forums every couple of months to see if any new games have been released that are MB friendly but it hasn't changed much in the past couple of years. WoW will always be the best game for multi-boxing but after playing it for years and leveling countless teams i have lost the passion for it and want to find something new that i can play quite smoothly with the follow / assist macros.

There are zero games that are as simple/smooth and as safe to box as WoW. With all the hate for us out there, I'm guessing there will never be another. Most new MMOs seems to have limitations on it right out the gate now days.

With that said, there are several that are easy "enough" to box. EQ1 and 2, Rift, SWtOR to name a few. I also wish there were new ones to box.

We might be suffering from the advancement of technology... games can do weird thigns now that processor and graphics have advanced.
Doing my best to get motivated for the WoW Headless Horseman mount hunt of 2013... so far failing. and now in 2018, let's see about those HH mounts! [Edit: Actually got an HH mount in 2018... on separate account 6. One to go! In 2019, my last BNet accout, the main one, got the HH mount. End of an era.]

I multibox because I have no time, have a life, have a job and[/or] money and have little patience for drama and temper tantrums. -- heffner

I think its a trend of multiboxing being less and less tolerated, newer MMOs introducing an evolution of mechanics and gameplay that aren't feasable to multibox, and a decline of the MMO genre in general.
EVE Online Get Ships. Train Skills.

I actually think it's just a function of no other MMOs really being released that are competitive with WoW. Most that are being worked on/released in the last five years have innovations and unique ideas/systems such that boxing doesn't really work. Shrug.

why make a MMO?? they cost to much to make when you can make a app on a phone for "gems" and make like 10times more $$$$$ for a 3rd of the work. maybe even more $$$$ for less work.

and all your going to get form a MMO is a lot of Crazy kids thats nerver happy with the game, Gear to hard to get gear to easy to get, takes to long to get max dps why is it so easy now? etc....

all we can be hopeful is wow is making a nulf to cover the costs to carry on.. i can see less and less "games" and more and more play to win apps.

I think Ebs is on the money here (no pun intended). Developing a large, functional MMORPG is a massive investment of time and money with all the things people have come accustomed to with other titles, such as various leveling zones for each level, massive amounts of quests, instances, LFG, raids (of multiple difficulties and raid sizes), constructed PVP in multiple formats, continuous releases of content, the lore behind it, etcetc... Then add on continuous 24/7 support and management, fixing bugs, exploits and unintended mechanics... It's a big risk just to see the game go F2P after 2 years of a dwindling player base. It's just not a great market when the end goal - whether we like it or not - is to make as much money as possible for shareholders.

I don't disagree with the above comments by Ebony.

That said, my opinion on the "evolution of mechanics" as EatCarbs put it, is that as gaming/geek culture have become A Thing(tm), more of the non-traditional gamer types flood into the target marketing demographics, necessitating mechanics that can be comprehended by the new majority. As such, you see a lot more "console port" type mechanics where things are greatly simplified and don't require any super-extra-complicated stuff like binding keys or making macros. Hell, just look at the Gnome Sequencer addon. Copy-pasta and instant 85% raid capability. If enough people use that and it mostly works, you have two things happen: A) the folks that normally either aren't coordinated enough to make it in raiding or have some injury/disability that would prevent it can now join the rest of the folks, and B) the folks that are able to raid find it much much less tedious to raid with GS. The devs see this and probably thing something like "Well, we have a TON of folks using GS macros -- maybe we can simplify things so they don't need that, and then we can make things more difficult because they don't have to worry about all these details like making sure buffs are up and the right resists are cycled and etc." So you get dumbed-down interfaces being favored by the majority of the people involved in the game (both players and devs). It makes sense, but it definitely makes the game(s) feel more like Candy Crush rather than an MMO.

Then again, maybe it's just me seeing a bunch of kids on my lawn...

Wait for the release of classic WoW. The golden times of multiboxing will return! Its Not like in the newer xpacs where every class has one billion AoE CC abilitys which makes Multiboxing completly unviable in PvP.

I'm wondering if they will be "true" classic wow servers. So the way BGs worked..will /follow work in BGs again ect. I stopped playing PvP when i could no longer do BGs. I i never liked any of the workarounds. But i LOVED AV! its a multiboxing dream, ou can make a difference in there with a 5 man team. I always felt like i was more of a determent in the other BGs.
