i would get the best MSI or ROG offering for your budget. emphasize CPU power over GPU. tailor your graphics settings to achieve highest FPS possible. reduce slave / follower window size / settings accordingly. etc. but these days, manufacturers have let their pricing get a little out of hand in my opinion, and 2400 would be better.

but i don't think this is going to be your biggest issue.

even though i personally run a laptop, i can't imagine running less than 2 very large external monitors (120hz min.) because i need to see. plus all the other apps i need to have up (google, chats, tools, etc). i just don't see it being much fun on a 17" laptop monitor.

so having a solid TV, on the thunderbolt / DP out on the laptop could be a good start, etc.

I don't have one of the uber discrete GPU ROG units but I've been using one of the Asus i7-6700 Zenbooks at work for the last couple of years and it's been a solid piece of kit with an absolute minimum of OEM bloatware. After this experience, I'd absolutely look at one of their modern GPU units (1060 or better, i7-7xxx); those look like you can have one for $1700-1900 before taxes/etc.
