Default WoW Legion - Trinity - Progression? Viability?

good day to all. i've been a lurker on these forums for half a dozen years or so, and have learned almost everything from your posts.

    thank you!

i hope i'm not too wordy, but my question is about me considering re-opening 5 WoW accounts, buying Legion, and boxing instances to progress (through gear) and push myself to see what i'm capable of. with a trinity.

i've several years experience successfully boxing 5-man trinity setups on Live, and vanilla private servers. i stopped Live after WotLK finished.

now, i have not seen content since really (some videos), and i believe that now, instances seem to be more heavily based on movement, and CD's (properly timing spells that come off CD) which can really provide a boost in DPS. this is not something i am used to.

i realize that having 5x (something) is probably optimal, and will allow for access to better gear and further progression.

no problem with that. but, i don't want to play that way.

i want to play trinity (tank, healer, and 3x (i like ranged best)).

i am not seeing a lot of YT videos running trinity. i am not sure i would like to fail a lot because i am spending more than 1/2 my time moving the team or healing.

is there much content for the trinity?

it appears there might be a "timewalking" thing that could allow me to fight older content which may give me a chance.

am i just setting myself up for disappointment? will my 5x game purchase, and 5x sub for however long it takes to do stuff (6 weeks?) to get the team to 110? be just wasted?

i don't even know what a garrison is, etc, but i think i need one? (them?). i mean, there might be all kinds of profession stuff i must do x5? i read about a relic weapon? that is probably time consuming x5.

it would still be some fun, but i would like to spend many months progressing, if possible.

i don't mind the effort (months) or time to get ilvl geared to something (normal, heroic, mythic (w/e that is), challenge), as long as i know that there is some hope for my trinity team.

    sorry for being too wordy.

thank you to anyone who replies, even if it is as simple as "yes, go for it". : )

also, don't mean to bump my own thread, but i thought it was worth mentioning.

i know what LFR is also, but i am not going to do it. not that there is anything wrong with it.

but for my own reasons, i want to see what i am capable of without help.

can i get 1/2 as far as a 5x team? almost as far?

Trinity teams are perfectly viable for pushing Mythic+ dungeon content. I believe Chibilukina is still doing the highest ones out of all the boxers I've seen and he runs druid tank + healer with 3 hunters.

Any dungeon below the Legion ones you will be able to fly through, even if you get 5 resto druids so to speak. The Legion dungons are quite hard when you get there, but nothing you cant handle with some gear upgrades.

Plenty of dungeons to do, including timewalking ones

Can't tell. From my raiding experience, I have seen people stop playing and come back only to get bored with the game and quit again.

Don’t have to worry about this, you will get one automatically when you progress through Warlords of Draenor and wont do to much with it (unless you really want to) when you progress beyond level 100.

Yes, this is time consuming and you will (probably) spend most your time upgrading it along with your gear. But you will get one automatically when you level in Legion content

think he ended at +15 / +17 only advantage is he was gear to the teeth even normal/hc raid gear

yeah think he was to focused on gear / progress instead of making some gold what is so easy for us to do these days

wow. your answers are great! and quick too! what an awesome community.

i have hope now. i'll probably stick to my HKN scripts and WoW macros for now and try something new like ISBoxer later. but i think it is time to jump in and see what is possible!

i have 3 or 4 years worth of unseen world content, and all kinds of instances and raids to see. this is exciting! woot!

once i get a team to 110 and doing @lvl content, i will stream/record if my comp allows, or figure something out.

thank you all for your quick responses!

    happy boxing,

I'm running the following team and have yet to get beyond +5 (at ilvl around 900)
    Disc Priet
    Prot Pally
    2x Ret Pally
    1x Fury Warrior

I find trinity really really challenging!

thank you for your input. i really appreciate it.

i've done a ton of research on this since originally posting. i've also been running some single toons through content lvl85-110. i can barely stand questing. i don't like the direction that blizzard has taken the game. but i can see how it would be wildly fun and engaging playing single player for much of the WoW community. i hope instances are pure though, and largely uncluttered by heavy doses of cut scenes, dialog, mini-game play, automated scripted events, etc.

i have found that you only 1 of a small group of active mixed team multiboxers that could probably be counted on one hand. most have tried and quit. it is ridiculously difficult even with advanced tools (is-boxer), and i applaud your efforts. i would consider your efforts advanced, and believe you have achieved much.

mixed group is simply the most difficult combo, period. there are really solid reasons why 5-mans are mostly comprised of carbon copy class/spec. and also why most comps are sporting the same class or two.

cooldowns and conditionals and movement requirements have all cast a disparaging shadow over the multibox masses it seems. and i don't find nearly as many folks even boxing compared to years past.

and so i have come to some conclusion that my original wishes to box pure trinity are beyond my skill capped reach. even if it is of the desires of most to see if someone can pull it off successfully using new or inventive techniques.

i think i'll likely do well with heirlooms until i reach Legion content, at which point i am likely to hit the wall when gear no longer overpowers mechanics which much eventually be adhered do.

    we will see.

until then, i wish you much continued success friend.

so does that mean that you will stop boxing at all?
