Hmm....I was having a problem with a rogue last weekend who I could not break out of stealth. I was using consecrate repeatedly, but this rogue was able to sap anyone of my group at will. I assumed that the changes in patch 1.11 that no longer broke stealth unless you actually saw the rogue with certain AE attacks/spells was causing this. I dropped quite a few fire nova followed by magma totems, but I still never broke his stealth.

I guess I just didn't keep consecrate and/or magma's up with no break in coverage which allowed him to sap me repeatedly. I'll setup a magma only key instead of my castsequence and see if I have any better luck breaking stealth.

As far as I know patch 1.11 changed it so that aoe would not cause you to do dmg to a pvp flagged enemy if you yourself was not pvp flagged. Rank 1 AE on my mage breaks aoe all the time in BG's. As well as rank 1 Consecration.

It's been awhile since I played on my rogue but I think rogue's can use Cloak of Shadows w/o breaking stealth, run in sap you and run back out. Also I know the range on sap got MUCH longer than it use to be. Possible that it may be even longer than your aoe spans.

Wait a minute! So you can't consecrate to break his stealth if your not flagged? But the rogue can sap you if your not flagged? That seems a bit unfair to me. Are you sure this is true?

Most rogues in pvp have become Subtelty spec. A couple of talents could be the reason...

One talent is called "Dirty Tricks" - Increases sap range by 5 yards

Another talent is called "Enveloping Shadows" - Additional 15% chance to avoid AOE damage
