Thread: BOOBS JOB Probs

    Default BOOBS JOB Probs

    Rob,

I had to revert to 1.8e last night, The JOB part of BOOBS seems to be throwing a wobbler.

I have been using a macro (assigned to the same key as the PIP hotkeys) which will change the focus on all my clones and also change party leader. This has been working fine in 1.8e (and still does)

in 1.8f however I sometimes end up with the wrong instance being in the main slot (wrong because the hotkey should be for a different instance ... eg my paladin should have the large window but my druid has decided to camp there instead). This seems to be a permanent change (for the duration of the session) of which hotkey belongs to which instance of wow.

Due to my overloading of functionality on these keys combined with my DNP linst it makes WOW unplayable once it goes wrong (i.e. I shouldn't wipe on trash 2 levels lower than me because I can't manage my targets properly )

I am running 5 instances in a 1920x1200 screen with an aspect ration of 1.28 (380x300 for the clones)

this weekend i am hoping to push an update ... and pip swap is on the list (along with a nice feature addon if i can get the final kinks worked out)

basically, i'm going to change how the swap works in an effort to increase performance. and also reduce the amount of work pip needs to do.

here is a diagram of the situation and proposed change... comments?

just to clarify (I think I fried my brain trying to work it out )

    1. a is active and you press b, 1 and 2 swap
    2. a is active and you press c, 3 moves to a, 1 moves to c and 2 moves to b - all good so far
    3. d is active window and you press e, d and e (4 and 5) swap.
    4. a is active window and you press e, 4 moves to a, 3 moves to c and 1 moves to e ?

ok I think I get that, we are shuffling the unfocused windows to keep them in the correct positions

in the proposed system the unfocused windows will swap with the active window and remain where they end up....
    1. will each instance have an absolute hotkey?
    2. Can we have a reset function to resort the windows?

    cheers

Making the windows be out of order after extensive swapping will totally mess up my system and my idea of where each character is. Please don't make this change. (or at least make it optional in the options)
I'm going to live forever, or die trying.

well.. the original window that is associated with a region, will always come to the focused window when you hit the associated hotkey. (each region CURRENTLY has its own hotkey, btw)

so.. you totally shuffle around... and have 5 in the a window... hitting the hotkey for a will bring 1 into that region.
but i think i understand how crazy it would get.

any better suggestions on how to shuffle the windows around .. are most welcome

(and yes, i was thinking a 'get me back to square one' hotkey would be nice)

Actually, what I would EXPECT to work PiP like is:

I have 5 regions (or however many you want).

Region 1 has the hotkey (1) and is marked as "primary region".
Region 2 has the hotkey (2) and is marked as "secondary region".
Region 3 has the hotkey (3) and is marked as "secondary region".
Region 4 has the hotkey (4) and is marked as "secondary region".
Region 5 has the hotkey (5) and is marked as "secondary region".

If I press (1) it looks like this:
    2 3
    1
    4 5

If I press (2) it looks like this:
    1 3
    2
    4 5

If I press (3) it looks like this:
    2 1
    3
    4 5

If I press (4) it looks like this:
    2 3
    4
    1 5

If I press (5) it looks like this:
    2 3
    5
    4 1

So... whatever you press (1-5) goes to the primary display and swaps with (1), pressing it several times will NOT change anything...

    Do I make sense?

Everything else will just mess up things.....

    Regards

yes Hamu, that's the way it works now. try fitting in the extra bit of shuffling other windows while the main is shuffled.
    swap 1 and 2
    swap 2 and 4
go to 3rd screen.... swap 3 and 5
now, go back to primary... swap 3

Frankly, I don't care where the other windows are as long as my "focused" one is in front of me.

atm though, I can't really utilitize this feature. Even on my Q6600 system, pressing F1 to change /focus and PiP make the screen lag for 5-10 seconds... and that does me no good in AV when my main dies. Keep on truckin Rob, we appreciate it

That sounds nasty, how are your installs configured? Parse points? separate installs? separate disks?

@Rob, I too don't care about position for the most part. Could you throw up a window overlay with the region ID for a second after swap and one demand (maybe an identify hotkey?)

I started out using 5 folders of WoW on 1 disk. The load times were horrendous. I switched to running 1 Folder of WoW and I'm pretty good now. I never felt a need to try the symbolic links. Should I give that a go? How long does it normally take for your screen to transition?
