    Default PiP and Mouse issues

    Hi,

I managed to get keyclone set up, and used maximiser to tell wow1to appear fullscreen on left monitor, and wow2 and wow3 to take up part of my right monitor. Great so far, managed to get around the resolution issue (it was setting to 800x600 each time which was annoying).

All 3 clients are now set up as 1024x768 resolution.

The problem I now have is that when I hit my key to swap wow2 onto the left screen, it does something weird with the sizing. It performs fairly fast and with minimal lagging, but for some reason the resolution looks different and the bottom of my screen is cut off! I can't for the life of me work out how to fix it.

EDIT: Actually this issue seems to have fixed itself, at least for now. No idea what I did, but apparently it worked!
EDIT AGAIN!: It's doing it again. Argh.

The other issue I'm seeing is that while playing my mouse randomly jumps around from monitor to monitor, which is incredibly annoying if I'm trying to run and direct with the mouse buttons. All sorts ends up happening!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Howdy Subversion and welcome to the forums!

one thing you could try is UNCHECKing 'focus follows mouse' (setup/general)

i will be looking into the issue of the jumping mouse before the next release

I have the problem with the mouse jumping around while and shortly after changing PiP and i dont have focus follows mouse on.
Also, after hitting the hotkey to change the PiP, it seems that the next keypress is still sent to the old window, wherever it may now be, before it realizes that you aren't there anymore.
I'm going to live forever, or die trying.

doing some analysis tonight on the mouse positioning and the weird 'jumpy mouse' thing...

without keyclone running... having wow on my 2nd monitor (which i think is the key)... i can double click real fast and a window in my other screen will start to get the input. no real reason for this.

then i pulled out spy++ and watched the messages going into the wow client. when the mouse was down, the x and y position were both negative... and if added to the last good position, would be exactly where it shows up on my first monitor.

if i put the wow window on the main screen and repeat the test, no blinky cursor, no weird behavior.

so, my thought is that the wow client has some odd problem dealing with dual view...

and that the jumpy cursor thing isn't keyclone.. BUT... since keyclone does have 'focus follows mouse'... and the mouse position jumps to another screen, thereby changing the focus for a moment.... it gets all messed up. i'm looking into what i can do to avoid the focus change in that situation

here is a screenie of the mouse messages going into wow while it is on my 2nd screen ... using dual-view. (keyclone not running)

note: the first circle shows xPos and yPos positive... then i pushed and held the left button, dragged it around a bit... and the xPos was negative right away. very odd

I definitely have the focus mouse option enabled (I didn't see the option, but I did wonder why I was focusing on windows without clicking on them 8o ) so I'll disable that when I get home and see if that helps.

Would setting the monitors to horizontal span rather than dual view help? I don't really want to (another solution = better!), but the mouse is driving me insane!

Regarding the PiP issue with cutting off the bottom of the screen, I still haven't got that to work correctly. Sometimes when I switch it will resize correctly with no problems, but then I'll switch again a minute or two later and the main region on left monitor cuts off at the bottom, hiding one of my bars and the bags etc. and the only way to fix it is to completely exit the game, and reload. I've checked that the regions are the correct size in the maximiser settings so I'm not sure what's causing it. Possibly my Vista doing it's own thing as usual?

God this is making me want to give up dual boxing altogether, and I'm only level 2 -_-

Solved the maximising issue; basically when using PiP the taskbar would stay active, effectively cutting off a section of the main window. Made the taskbar auto-hide and voila.

But the mouse... god the mouse ;(

I disabled the follow mouse focus, but it's still unplayably horrendous. Even something as simple as opening my bag with "B" and right clicking on an item to equip it. No luck. Mouse jumps, does nothing. I can literally reposition the mouse 20+ times and it still will do its own thing on click.

I'm reconfiguring things now to see if playing on horizontal span helps, and if that doesn't work I'm going to try putting all 3 clients onto one monitor and if that doesn't work, I'm going to throw my PC off the balcony. Or something.

it might be a good question for the wow tech support forums... feel free to reference the pic so they know what you are talking about. i think having them all on one screen should do it.

The WoW Tech forums are supremely uselesss from my past experience with them

However, it's obviously not a Keyclone issue, it's my dumb PC or something to do with Vista screwing things over.

When I boot all 3 clients onto the same screen, all runs smoothly, thank god, and I can live with that. I'll use the 2nd monitor for reading forums/watching a movie!

I do have a question you may be able to help with though... Since I'm trying to run 3 clients on the 1 screen now, I'm having trouble getting them to look right. I tried putting one large on top, and two smaller ones on the bottom, but that doesn't seem to work - they all look stretched!

My desktop is set at 1280x1024 resolution, 19inch monitor (not widescreen); any suggested layouts/resolution for my clients/maximiser? The PiP thing seems to work much smoother with all on the one monitor as well.

well, maybe one of the devs would spot it and want to figure it out

anyhow, try this for your single monitor layout:

    mainA: x,y( 0,0 ) w,h( 853,1024 )
    cloneB: x,y( 853,0 ) w,h( 427,512 )
    cloneC: x,y( 853,512 ) w,h( 427,512 )

    aspect ratio: 0.833

you may lose the edges of your action bars though... but there are add-ons that could help with that
