New silencing system in wow - problems

Even gold sites have been reported to be selling silences!

With all the changes and now this my boxing will be on hold until Legion.. I haven't even pre-ordered as I lost my faith a while back. Need to see how it all pans out.

I've already seen conversation turn in to how multiboxers will naturally abuse the system and used as a argument against multiboxing as a whole. It seems that the handful with large enough groups to even make such abuse possible and the reputations they carry again have a negative affect on everyone. While it of course is a problem that it is possible for someone with enough toons to simply choose who will get silenced as long as the system remains this way, it is sad that we're all being lumped in to the same category as ones who would abuse the mechanics, when I would assume just about everyone has no intention of ever doing so, nor even possess the capability to do so.

It is worth mentioning that it is likely that some of us will receive just as unjust silences simply for our chosen playstyle as well. While I am not too worried about it personally (as one can still talk to B-tag friends, which is like 99% of the ingame chatting I do), I do not wish unjustified infractions on my accounts. Seems like the only way to be sure would be to refrain from conversing in any non-private chat, in practise "silencing" yourself.

I'm hoping the system is revamped quickly, or in an unlikely but welcome outcome completely withdrawn from the game. It's a pandering, unnecessary system that is far too easily exploited in it's current form.

This is what worried me too.. it's more likely that people will report us boxers than the other way around.

well i remember what i used five chars to kick players from bg's (maybe cus they pissed me off) and i got a 12 hour ban and a word of warning from a GM. this was back in wotlk

With the new phasing system you pretty much have to be grouped for you to see people, even in big busy cities like Stormwind it should appear mostly empty as its split into 3+ phases. We might not see 40 people let alone have that many try to silence us because we are boxing. They would have to use a gold site or start some mass spamming of trade chat to get people to silence us.

Not that I use the chat ever, and seldom use mail. Though I wonder if addons like Jamba using channels to communicate will break from being silenced?
