I've gotta get to farming the Nemesis titles. I think I'm going to boost a couple on Horde using my old Paladin and a couple of spare accounts I've got for it, WoD is down to $10 now so perfect timing.

I found that focusing on the barn on all my accounts netted the fastest profit ( 150k+ a week with 3 teams of 5). I paid all my accounts with tokens until I ran out and i still have 1.8mil..But now that I know there will be crazy expensive items for sale ill be back at it.

How much time were you putting in to get 150k per week?
Just to be clear, I agree that the Mad Merchant isn't going to serve as a very effective gold sink. But that's because he isn't intended to be one in any meaningful sense. Gold sinks, in an MMO economic sense, are primarily things like repair costs, the Auction House tariff, and a range of useful expensive items that still fall within the price range of many guild banks and gold-rich players. In this case, a handful of very wealthy players may dump a large portion of their gold reserves into this one vendor, but that's ultimately a blip in the grand scheme of the WoW economy.
If we wanted to drain as much gold as possible out of the economy using these items, we'd be pricing them differently. If the Blackfang Widow cost 200k, I'd wager that far more than 10x as many would be sold. Inflation is a concern, but that's a battle that will be waged on many other fronts. This is just a crazy merchant. The point of the items is to be ludicrously expensive, just as the point of something like the Time-Lost Proto Drake is to be ludicrously rare (if you think about it, a multi-day respawn that shares a spawn point with a more common variant and has a zone-wide patrol is pretty insane...). Some of the vendor's details may be tweaked, and there's been very good feedback in the thread on the relative attractiveness of the different items, but the 2mil price tag for the mount is not likely to change.

Not more than an hour a day, one day two hours or so. I would take one day a week to farm enough to fill orders for the week on each team.. that took about two hours or so. I would only log in about every two days to keep my orders full. And Tuesday I would tag Kaz on all my toons..when I'm done with that, i gather all the mats i had earned and put them on the auction.
There were weeks i made more than 200K..but those weeks I would do the barns+ somthing else.. like holiday stuff. During the xmas events i got 8 of the rare mounts..i still have those, they sell fro about 30-50k each. I also got a tons of random sellables like the rep tokens and exp potions out of the bags you could buy with the event currency.
Bottom line is if you are lazy like me, just doing the barns on 3 teams ( some of you have way more ) will make you great gold. If i were starting right now I would do barns and other stuff people listed here.. due to the fact that the next expansion is not far off.

I just sold a stack of 150 savage blood for 8k and it sold in just a couple minutes. Price is down a bit but they always sell and always sell quickly.
I have a total of 10 barns, I mix them up between leather, fur, and food. I gather the resources on different days so as not to overload the AH with any one particular material but its probably unnecessary as they always sell.
I"ll chime in and say that if you're on a low-population server/cluster, you might have really, really poor (or crazily sporadic) results on barn output. I have over a million but I made about 2/3 of that in about two weeks because things sold well. I've made less than 200k in the two months since that sale; the savage bloods just sit on the AH forever. The fur sells pretty consistently but isn't that great of a money-maker.
