Default Please help me 3, 4 or 5 box

    Hello,

Since I started playing wow at release I have had 3 or 4 active accounts.
I have only ever 2 boxed before so for the last year I have only kept 3 accounts active.
I am now thinking about running either 3, 4 or 5 accounts at once.
I was wondering what characters that I currently have might be best to keep using when 3, 4 or 5 boxing.

Here are the characters classes I have:

    70 Warlock
    62 Warrior
    62 Rogue
    60 Mage
    54 Hunter
    40 Druid
    26 Pally

Thanks in advance for any help.

Have a look at the stickies in the "New Multiboxers and Support" forum. Everything you could want to know as a beginner is there.

separate them into an account by account list and we might be able to give you some advice..
unfortunately from the looks of it however you mostly have melee classes which will be nigh impossible to box properly.
u have a lvl 62 warrior ..lvl him to 70.. go fury.. and use him to lvl up ur other accounts (boosting) the other classes should be casters (makes things easier), a mix of healers/dpsers or hybrid casters.
alternatively lvl up your pally for imba AoE tanking.. using one of ur high lvl characters if you can..

Please dont take this as a bash, because its not, but no one can really tell you what you would like best at all. Ive also played since release, played every class to at least 60, etc, and every class is a different experience. Also, do you want to focus on PvP or PvE? It sounds kinda harsh, so please dont take it that way, but no one can tell you what you want except you!! I honestly believe any class makeup can work, especially in pvp, as there are very weird combo's that do very well in their own unique way. Just to add in tho, you cant beat 5 mages or 5 shammy's

If you are determined to pick from that list you might struggle with the level of complexity with different classes. However, i know there are people on here who do it so it can be done

You probably can't do a full dps grp with that mix but you could look at a standard tank, healer + 3 dps grp.

Dps is fairly easy for you warlock+mage can work add in the hunter (bit more complex due to pet control) or caster druid and that could work.
Tank - warrior is best placed to do this job being decent level, but it's the hardest multibox tank you can have (pally easiest then druid - in my opinion)
healer - druid or pally take your pick

Personally I'd boost 4 new chars with your lock or warrior and get your team working together (thats what I'm doing)
If forced to pick from your list I'd go pally (tank) druid (healer) mage, lock and hunter for dps

Obviously this is all for a grp of 5

    Thanks for the replies.

I think I'm not being clear.
What I mean is what would be the optimum group using the characters I currently have as much as possible and adding classes to make an optimum group.
    For a 3, 4, or 5 box group.

For example: Could I use say the Warlock, Mage and Hunter for the DPS portion of a 5 box group? Then use the Pally for the tank and add maybe a Priest as Healer?
Could I use the Pally to tank the Druid to heal and the Warlock as DPS for a 3 box team?

My favorite classes to play just 1 boxing is Hunter and Warlock. I haven't even tried Shaman and Priest yet.

My accounts are setup like this:

    Account 1
    70 Warlock
    62 Warrior
    26 Pally

    Account 2
    60 Mage
    54 Hunter
    40 Druid

    Account 3
    62 Rogue

    Account 4
    no characters over level 10

I used to 4 box in EQII running dungeons for loot.

My goal now is I would like to be able to run instances (at least normal instances) and getting groups is painful in WoW.

    Thanks

Simplest solution is probably pala tank/4 shamen to heal/dps for dungeon running. Pala tanks are hands down the multiboxer tank of choice(Though warr/druid works too, requires a lil more micromanagement, + blessings/bop/bubble/DI are nice :p)

However your pala's pretty low lvl...you can either
A: Roll chars and lvl naturally with pala tanking + alts caught up to his lvl and continue on normally, taking advantage of the time spent to learn how a pala tanks as you progress and have little issue later on
B: Powerlvl the Pala with your Mage or Rogue(Mage for SM/aoeable places, Rogue for the harder places if you're careful since Rogue can survive better + escape if shit hits the fan)

I'd lean more towards A, almost exlusively for the Tank/alt control experience factor...but I'm also impatient and I'd probably plvl them to at least 30-40+ then worry about learning once the pala has Plate + all his good tank skills and gear to support it lol

IF you're good at Micromanagement, you can slip that Mage into the group for CC options later on too...the Rogue's pretty useless though for anything but powerlvling, Melee doesn't work well for us if it's not the lead char and if pala's tanking, the rogue ain't backstabbing or dpsing optimally, they're micro-heavy if you want full performance lol

Warlock's on same account as Pala so he can't do much powerlvling forthe pala, but you could always use him to catch up the non-pala chars. Hunters are great for soloing but for a boxer unless you're going all hunters or getting a BM tank pet(Which wouldn't work well enough in Outland instances for most bigger trash pulls), they're simply not worth it in most cases.

    Thanks.

So you think Pally + 4 Shaman would be the best 5 box setup to do instances in Outland?

Would it be possible after you had a Pally + 4 Shaman team to replace 1 Shaman with another class to run the new class through an instance?

Would the Pally Shaman team be able to Heroics?

Can all heroics be run with a 5 box team?

    Thanks,

Pala/4shaman is the easiest, most versatile setup to use at first, mixing too many different classes in there is completely up to how you personally work with Micro-management of each class where needed lol; you can always switch a shaman out for another class as well yeah.

As for heroics...I haven't kept completely up to date on how well/many everyone else has done with their teams, but I do know most of them have been done, they just take alot of thinking about how to best abuse your abilities to make up for your lack of seperate control of each char, spreading out, targeting, totem/cooldown use. I know we've got a set or two of 5 shaman who run heroics, and simply kiting mobs down by staggering earthbind totems every 20yds or so works well, though it takes some learning + time. 5 Earth Ele totems to tank works nicely too, another reason heavy shamen is a boon for boxers; they're just so versatile being dpsers, healers, and having offtanks/ohshit buttons :p

I'll have to side with Eteocles on this one.
personally i have the option to have my lvl 65 warrior tank and powerlvl my clones, but i'm sticking with my lower lvl pally.. it's worth getting used to it.. however lvl 20-60 tanking pally tanking doesn't change too much so you could get him up to that lvl and then use him as your tank. The advantage of having ur pally at lvl 70 will be that you can powerlevel any team up to 70 very quickly providing you stick to the trinity rule..tank+healing+dps
there are a few ways of sorting out ur team 1 tank + 4hybrids.. or 1 tank + healer + dps

    option 1:

4 caster hybrids of the same kind.. druids, shamans, Preists.. not paladins as these are melee.. (priests included as they can dps and heal)

    Reasons for taking these:
-stacking spells means you don't have to worry about one class casting at a different rate = less micromanagement
-insane dps.. dps using hybrid classes stacked like this (especially shamans) can often outweigh problems with lack of CC

    cons per class:
Druid.. if boomkin speced, no stacking aura and can't heal whilst in that form.. limited CC
    Priest.. very very squishy
    Shaman.. lack of CC

    Pros:
    Druid.. some AoE, high burst
    Priest.. great healing and utility
Shamans.. totem defence stacking, high burst, and high armour value

    option 2:

    4 casters.. 1 healer + 3 dpsers

very stable setup.. high dps and good potential CC

    Healer:

Pally: buffs, good healing (single target only!)
Priest: arguably the best group healer, buffs and some CC.. (undead shackling ftw)
Shaman: totem micromanagement for one character could become a little annoying but provide good buffs nonetheless.. good group healing, wipe insurance
druid: meh buffs.. great healing efficiency with hots, but may require constant application of said hots (hard enough being a healer as it is :P)

    Dps:

Mage: arguably the best choice.. 3 sheeps, frost nova, AoE, great burst, panic button (Ice Block)
Warlock: great dps, less CC then a mage tho (unless you use succubus wisely)
    Hybrids as before

Personally I'll be using 4 shamans simply cos i love the class and always have
