I just read that thread, Deville. It sound depressing. Currently, I do lag whenever there are more then 6 or 7 mobs getting AEd, but only for a few seconds. My pets cover for me during that time, for the most part. I will reroll all the Area Damage on my gear and see what happens. Doesn't sound like it will help much anymore, but it's worth a shot.
