Thread: Boomkin advice

    Question Boomkin advice

My partner wants to be a tank Druid and I wondered if I could get away with playing x4 balance and still keep him alive.. pve speaking.
Any advice on talents.. can I get away with playing all 4 together as if I were playing solo?

Wubsie I know you love the Boom so would love your feedback

I can't say I've ever played Boomkin (at least not since WotLK), but do you get kicked out of Moonkin form when you cast a heal? If so, I imagine that could be problematic at some point.

Both healing touch and rej can be cast in moonkin form now - decided to give it a go anyway

If you're not undergeared for the content, 4x rejuvs can definitely sustain a tank in non-heroics. I didn't spend too much time doing that as the separate movement mechanics drove me insane, but I did enough that it looked viable. You lose noticeable DPS when doing it and I can't speak to mana longevity in longer fights, but if it's someone you know, you won't get the kind of grief you get in a PUG for being a half-second late on a minor spell.

Hmm... Interesting concept. I'm sure it would work fine for leveling content up to at least Cata dungeons and most likely beyond. As far a lvl 100 dungeons and heroics, it might get substantially harder.

I did a quick test just throwing one as guardian and did some trash in normal Grimrail Depot. I outgear the instance by miles, being in 660 ilvl PVP gear (650 on the guardian since I needed to buy some honor gear to get rid of some of the intellect pieces). For the test I was using a very very quick pro-setup that was no where near optimized (read:barely functional) and what I found was:

    - Rejuvs are not all that strong at this level. Ysera's Gift easily doubles their healing. I doubt just rejuvs will be enough, but them + cycling Cenarion Wards or passive Ysera's Gifts might do the trick. Nature's Vigil is also lovely for AOE damage and panic heals in combination with your DPS CDs
    - If you do need to stop to cast heals, you do lose a lot of DPS.
    - it's doable, but bosses and specific trash might be problematic. You also might need to take it a bit slower than a normal holy trinity composition and CC some pulls, which is to be expected.

Would it be easier to just do 3x boomy and 1x Resto? Most likely, but I don't see why you couldn't give this a go and later switch one over if it gets overwhelmingly hard.

playing the resto upfront I wouldn't be able to play the boomy manually that way.. I'm trying to steer away from rotation macros now unless I have to.. starting to wonder if x4 resto would be better with the Dream of Cenarius talent..

What level is this play at? You this is viable to level in PvE to 100, especially with looms

You might just want to restro one toon for the Dream of Cenarius talent and ezmode it however.
