My 6 box DAOC Experience

Hey All

Thought I would write a quick update on my 6 box doac setup. I can run upto 12 characters at one time on the hardware but as groups are limiited to 8 in dark age I normally run 6 and group a couple friends.

My hardware is 3 cheap ass slave PC's win xp pro 1GB ram on board graphics (omg), 1 laptop, and 1 decent pc which is the master/server. Keyboard is a Logitech G11 as it has a bunch of programmable keys.

For controlling them I use an amazing piece of software called hotkeynet (www.hotkeynet.com) I can't say enough anout how great this software is. You basically run it in client/server mode and the server machine sends keys or bunches of keys to the client pc's to be processed on a window by window basis.

To give an example my buff maco, i press 1 button on my main machine and the buffer buffs each of my toons in turn with allt he buffs they need, take about 30 secs to complete and is the same as around 30 keystrokes!

You can even multi box over the internet using this software, I havent used it but you could if you wanted have pc's running at home and multi box to them from your work pc using the software and as its only sending small text command its very fast, how cool is that!

The author of the program, Freddie, is a top fella who has actually added a couple new commands that we wanted!!

Yeah Freddie is the man, and currently the only program that can box multiple DAOC clients on one pc. Rob's working on getting keyclone functioning for games like DAOC and EQ2... I cant wait! Finally freedom from innerspace ugh.

What server do you play on?? I also 6-box DAOC, but on the classic servers.

I'd be careful of macros, they are illegal, and even a buff macro like that can get you banned. The only legitimate macros are those in game.

Do you run 6 monitors?? I have 5 (one 22" and 4 17"), but ordered my 6th and it's currently being shipped to me.

Here's a pic of mine, but I changed to a hex monitor stand, so the monitors look much better now.
