Its much easier to blame an individual / a small group of ppl than to blame a corp or the whole game mechanics.
Getting killed frequently by a group of 5 individuals = gameplay
getting killed frequently by a single multiboxer = ban multiboxing
we're having this problem since ages and handled it somehow until the boxers with 20+ or even 40+ accounts entered the game and turned specific areas into non-playable zones / graveyards. Out of the sudden follow was removed in battlegrounds (I still don't believe the botting thing) and whoop Ashran = no follow (As Holinka said on twitter: follow will remain disabled in Ashran. It didn't take long on beta to see it was going to be a problem.) I don't think that bots have been a problem in Ashran on a Beta realm - looks more like someone destroyed some gameplay for the others.
And I think thats the same issue on EVE now - you can have more than one ship, but duplicating a keypress on multiple windows to command a fleet on your own and kill single players = no go for the EVE community and devs.
