Default New Vid. card. Which one .

Hello i am getting a new Video card to go with a new 22" or 24" lcd.

I am not sure what to go with ,

    EVGA 512-P3-N841-AR GeForce 8800GTS (G92) 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail
    Chipset Manufacturer: NVIDIA
    Core clock: 670MHz
    DirectX: DirectX 10
    DVI: 2

    or with a

    XFX PVT94PYDD4 GeForce 9600GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail
    Chipset Manufacturer: NVIDIA
    Core clock: 700MHz
    DirectX: DirectX 10
    DVI: 2

the 9600 is cheaper , but i thought that the newer models was better than the older ones.

I play wow , i like high setting and i run more than one account some times.

I am lookin into Quakewars, and Crysis.

    Current comp is Amd X 2 4000
2gigs mem. ( upgradeing to 4 since so cheap)
    250hd.
i am currently using 7600 card X 2 ,( thou sli not workin since i went from Vista to xp.) and i have 500-600wt ps , cant remeber atm.

Anyway thanks for imput and any advice is sweet.

The 8800 i know for a fact is a great card, best card nvidia has had in a while, i've heard alot of bad things about the 9000 series that is probaly why it's cheaper...I know some have the 9000 series on the forums but i dont personally know how they preform...but if you are looking for a good workhorse of a card i'de go with the 8800.

Let them hate, as long as they fear.

It's an 8800 (high end 8000 series) which is the older technology vs an 9600 (low end, 9000 series) which is the newer technology. I can tell you that my 7900gt cleanly outperforms the 8600gt so I would expect teh same out of an 8800vs9600 comparison.

Yeah go 8800. Nvidia threw us a curve ball. Typically they always release their high end card, and then later release lesser performing cards that are more economical. With the 9,000's they reversed this order.
