    Default 6 monitors vs. 3 monitors & 3-way Sli 9800 GTX vs 2-way Sli 9800 GX2

As sugguested b4 by our pro Xzin/Ellay the best setup would be 6 monitors. 3 stacked on 3. For 5-boxing.

I recently have some thoughts of a new system for 5 boxing.

Either I can get a 3-way SLi with 9800GTX which will automatically give me 6 DVI outputs to 6 monitors

Or I can get 2-way Sli 9800 GX2 which gives me 4 DVI outputs.

    ----------------------------

As for monitors, I could have 3x 30" all put vertically side by side and divide the screens:

    |1| 3 |5|

    |2 |4| 6|

so that windows 1 and 2 will be on the first 30" monitor and so on.

    As for DVI connections.

A 6 monitor setup is trivial with 3-way Sli (as there are 6 DVI ports)

A 6 monitor setup is impossible for 2-way Sli (as there are only 4 DVI ports)

A 3 monitor setup is trivial with 3-way Sli (1 monitor per card)

A 3 monitor setup with 2-way Sli wll be: monitor 1 and 3 (for alts) on one card and monitor 2 having it's own card, assuming frame rate and quality on the alts are not too important this will provide good frame rate for your main.

    ---------------------------------

Anyways. Here are my thoughts about how to cram in 5 boxing onto one machine and still have good quality and LARGE images.

Possibly performance is not even an issue at all since WOW doens't really require that much and most recent graphics card are just over-kill.

Any thoughts or sugguestions would be highly appreciated.

PS. 6 monitor setup will have 19" monitors most likely running at resolution 1280x1024. and the 30" have 2560x1600.

so putting 30" vertically and splitting to two monitors will each have a higher resolution of 1600x1280 but with same aspect ration as 1280x1024 (i.e 1.25:1)

    Default

    The 3 9800's should not be SLI'ed

You'll get better performance from not SLI'ing them.

Hmm not here when I say SLi it doesn't mean they are SLi'd.. My fault.

It just means having 2 or 3 graphics cards on the same motherboard.

Reason being you cannot SLi and run more than one monitor at the same time.

    Thx
