PvP Gear yes/no?

Well, I went down from my 5 to actualy 3 toons (3 shamans, 1x Resto 2x Enhan) and did some timeless isle the last weeks (thanks for your advice about how to gear my toons).

Of course I found some world PvP while hunting for epics. I guess my shamies are ok geared (somewhere around 490 ilvl) but I had to discover I do nearly zero damage to people that attacked me. Of course I dont realy know what ilvl those attackers had (saw 1 warlock with nearly 700k life while my toons got like 450k) but with 2 enhancment shamans I had expected to do at least damage the other one would notice.

Is PvP gear that important these days? Should I buy some pvp gear in the auctionhouse even if this would be a lower itemlevel?

I was planing to do 2s arena with my 2 enchancment shamies but Im affraid to look stupid after my experiences on the timeless isle

Well, high lvl pvp gear is obviously better than what you have(522 vs 490). But for world pvp, anyone with the best pve gear will destroy anyone with the best pvp gear.And as far as 2s with you Enh. You should try it, only way to learn and will prob gear up fairly quickly, even if you lose alot at first. Just pop Ascendance on both toons at the start and cross your fingers. At 490ilvl, you won't do that good but once you get weapons and a little bit of 522 gear you should be able to constantly 1 shot people at low ratings.

I actually had more fun doings 2s on my shaman than 5s. Just make a few basic macros, i used /cast [target=arena1] hex and arena 2 for the other. start with an AS hex or 5 mael instant hex, once you have some damage going. should force a trinket, then pop defensives, wait for hex, then instant hex and onehit macro. gg

i never spent much time on it, but had a good w/l ratio while capping. can shoot up to 1600 pretty quick.

Ok, I got my first arena experience this weekend. I did 2s with 2 enchancement shamans. Today I reached the weekly pointcap. My rating is 1011 atm and Im nearly fully arena geared.

Around the first 20 matches it was realy hard for me to get used to the realy fast and burstheavy arena games. All I did was 5-boxing dungeon pve before. But after I learned it the hard way I changed some of my macros and realy had a blast.

What I do atm (I am only at 1011 ratio as I wrote) is just to try to win within the first 20 secs. I choose my target and throw everything in. I dont cc anything... well I try to interrupt heals if I can but overall I just burst my first target down. Alltogether I won 113 games and lost somewhat in the 60s (including the first 20 matches I lost in a row because I had no idea what I was doing).

Next week I will be full arena geared. Wonder if there is any other reason to continue playing arena but the funfactor? I dont think I will be able to reach the top to get a title after this season (and I think you cant get titles ins 2s these days, right?) so is there anything that would come at higher ratios?

Maybe I will just start to gear my next 2 shamies so i will be able to try some 5vs5 in the future even if I think this would be more work that fun for me :-)

5s isnt fun at the current state of the game, the first couple of seconds decide the winner in 90% of the games so personally I prefer longer games where I can decide when to use my cooldowns and set up a kill, as it is now you're forced to do something within 10 seconds

hmm, if I have nothing to do after having all the arena equipment I wonder if it makes sense to do 3s (3x enhancement) just to have the opportunity to get a title at the end of the season (not saying Im good enough but just trying and have a target at the horizon).

Guess I will try some 3s and see how it goes. 3x enhancement a good idea or maybe switch 1 shamie to resto?

3s are pretty tough right now for boxing because of the CC fest. You'll have some success if you beat them to the punch ( setup a CC chain including hex and shears and capacitor totems ). That said, fully expect one of your toons to be locked down the entire match.

If you can manage to get your kill target to LoS their healer, a well placed earthbind + capacitor + hex could lock the healer out long enough to secure the kill.
