    Default Keyclone validation request

I love Keyclone, but it concerns me a little bit that it seems that it has to be validated every time it starts. I'm not 100% sure that's the case, but it sure seems that way. I first noticed it when I was trying to kill some time on the plane by configuring a few things on it on my laptop and it came up with a validation failed message because I was offline. This morning, it seems the validation server was down for a few minutes. I decided to finish a quick quest from last night before heading off to work this morning and I got the validation failed message for about 10 minutes even though my internet connection was working perfectly. The validation server did come up after about 10 minutes though.

Why not have a "validate once" approach like most other software?

there is no ability to have a secure 'validate once' capability

if there is, please let me know how

Maybe not replace the validation...but it WOULD be nice to have a failsafe in case something happens like the server being unavailable; maybe make the program keep a local note/file/etc when it DOES obtain a valid auth, so that if the auth server is unreachable, it checks said file to see if a valid auth WAS obtained in the past and compare the key with the systemID or something?

I'd be a little iffed if I was really in the mood to box but couldn't cuz the server was down and I'm impatient when I want something ;p(Which is why I'm gonna fucking murder someone at nintendo for their wii shortage this past month rofl); you said someone called you asking for help with a warez keyclone anyways, if it's been cracked and most software can/will be eventually, may as well help us legit buyers out and give us a backup plan/option ;p Rare as the case may be, it's a nice comfort lol

if there was a local file that would be checked when the server was unavailable, then people would just copy the file around and be done with it.

as for the users trying the crack... ... that guy was definitely hosed. i downloaded and analyzed the crack doing a byte level comparison. it's the same size, but it's not keyclone.. about 80% of the code was different. it was most definitely a trojan or some other delivery agent. antivirus software would not pick up on it as they probably have never seen the trojan/virus before.

if people start losing their accounts due to keyloggers, well... i'm not really feeling that bad about it.

Yea I thought of that but unfortunately some parts of me still have a sliver of faith left in humanity and at least know those of us in the community wouldn't :p Still, can you think of ANY sort of backup plan for us? Would be nice :p This's the 2nd or 3rd post about things like this and I'm a lil concerned myself, just protecting our investment ;p lol

I think its fine as it is. Keyclone is entitled to protect his software (and intellectual copyright) however he wants. The server isn't down very often.

Keyclone has a brilliant rights management schema set up, it allows him to safeguard his property and is, in most cases, reliable for end-users. In addition, he provides fast service that most companies would be envious of when users need to transfer a key to a new computer. Most subscription-based companies are not as helpful as him, even though his is a one-time-charge for the software. Esca, your concerns are valid, but I feel the level of service Keyclone keeps up more than makes up for any short disruptions Keyclone users might experience from time to time.

Now if we could just get him to use a different forum name. "Keyclone wrote Keyclone so people could use Keyclone to clone their keys. I recommend Keyclone by Keyclone."

Well guys, only found the website this morning, and hooked ^^ got 3 accounts now and almost ready to go (ordered & paid for keyclone - still waiting to have the code validated :S)

Just a question, as your located in the Sunny USA , is your software server online 24/7? I was a little concerned maybe I would only have use during your waking hours lol, im sure this is not the case but better to ask now

Cant wait to post about my progress with my box toons !! and thankyou for the greatly informative forum

ps. send the key already lol i wanna start ;P

Hi simjea76 and welcome to the forums!

odds are, you've used an eCheck.. which does take time. drop me a PM with your email address and keyclone system-id (usually starts with SIKC-...) and i'll check to see what the situation is.

and yes, the server is 24x7. it's just a website. i believe in the last year it's been down for 30 minutes total.. it depends on hardware maintenance schedules (out of my control)

    talk to you soon,

    Rob

ps. and just for the new people like myself, there is no need to worry, I opened up my 2x game windows, logged in with the chars, started keyclone and didnt need to do anything else! keys were mapped and working like a dream ^^
