Default AMD Compairison: X2 6000+ vs Quad Core Phenom 9600

    AMD X2 6000+ (Dual Core 3.0ghz)
    Nvidia 8800GT 512mb (Connected to PCI-Express 1.0 16x slot)
    4GB 800mhz DDR2
    2xSATA 500GB
    2xSATA 320GB

Windows installed on 320gb drive, WoW installed on 500GB drive.

One copy of wow runs quite well, 5 runs playable however the cpu spends a lot of time @ 100%. Ventrilo often craps out in cities or high impact combat. Audio often pops and crackles. Fraps is not an option in this configuration. Screenshots bring the system to a halt.

AMD Phenom 9600 (Quad Core 2.3ghz)
    Nvidia 8800GT 512mb (Connected to PCI-Express 2.0 16x slot)
    4GB 800mhz DDR2
    2xSATA 500GB
    2xSATA 320GB

Windows installed on 320gb drive, WoW installed on 500GB drive.

One copy of wow runs worse than in the dual core configuration, however it's still 30+ fps everywhere but Shattrah. I've done some limited experimenting with 5 boxing, it runs perfectly smooth in all cases. I can run around Shattrah and not have problems with Ventrilo, sound is crisp and clear. CPU usage is WAY lower overall.

I'm assuming that you're setting CPU affinity for each instance of WoW?
    5 Shamans - lvl 70
    Xxearth, Xxfire, Xxwind, Xxwater, Xxheart
    Capnplanet - Bank alt

They all run with affinity to all cores.
