So its a tank like a pally (or hunter/lock with pet) as main control plus any ranged damage (suck as mage, hunter, lock)....is this correct? I think my style of play is to use a tank class like pally or warrior and a ranged class...like mage or lock. I've realized 3-boxing is out of the question...mainly because of economic reasons and another I'd only do like pally/mage/mage and that would leave me to play only pally or mage/mage in instances...which is douable (different hotkeys for sheeps on each mage, dispell hotkeys for same dispells on each mage).

Just trying to figure this out and wondering what everyone thought.

3-boxing would be nice for farming but I could always have two locks or two hunters to do the same and save on an account.

So you just want to dual-box? What exactly is your goal under this context?

If all you want is farming or doing normal quests together, you probably don't really even need a tank. In fact, I'd say a dps and some kind of hybrid healer would be better.

    That sounds perfectly doable.

The following setups are easy to accomplish:
    Ranged/Ranged
    1 Melee/Ranged

The following setups are difficult, but not impossible. However, they're nearly useless in PvP.
    Melee/Melee

My first group setup was Warrior + 4 elemental shaman. I later switched to a prot paladin. It was awful fun to just charge up to a mob, press my "spread out" key to stop my shammies from following, and pewpew.

Yup, and not to mention (which has been stated before)... it's always better to have at least 1 rezzer in the group! I'd definitely go Pally!

I'd consider a paladin + shadow priest combo. Plenty of DPS and (mostly) free healing.
