Hello everyone! Just checking in to say hello and that you guys are amazing. I'm only dual-boxing at the moment (all I can afford lol) and I'm still feeling in over my head.

Quick question, how long DOES it take to get comfortable usually. I'm on my second day and starting to relax a bit, but still get confused from time to time. Other than that, I'm 100% loving it.

Thanks for all the great info. I've spent just as much time reading this forum as I have playing. I've found about every question I've had somewhere on the pages. So thank you, thank you, thank you!

i've been truly multi boxing for a month now.. and after a while you start getting used to it.. making sure you auto follow etc.. and every now and then dammit i left someone behind

Group makeup will really determine the amount of time to get comfortable with your setup.
Also having a key layout that is comfortable and easy to use helps with this. The less you have to move your hands around the better.

In my experience with 5 boxing, 1Pally/4Shammy, it took me a good 8 hours playing time to get really comfortable with my N52 Layout and that was after numerous refinements of my keybinds and macros.

It doesn't get any easier as you level though. Each 10 levels you usually get a new ability that you'll want on your spell bars. So you'll have to spend another few hours getting used to that button or messing with alt/ctrl modifiers and getting a feel for what is what on the fly.

Give it time, you'll eventually get used to it just in time to have to redo it all with new spells/abilities.

I agree with Gurblash on this, Im running 5 shamans and it took me a number of hours to get used to things and then every few levels I had to redo stuff when I got a new spell/ability or I find something that flat out doesnt work. This was a big thing when I started into instances. Id say by the time I was lvl 15 or so I had a pretty good handle on things.

Thanks for the welcome, I'm having a blast. But the more I read, the more I want to try tri-boxing or more. I've got just 2 hunters at the moment but the idea of setting up seperate classes would be intense and a blast. My brother has started multi-boxing and he's got a better setup than I do so I'm thinking we'll do 5 mans with my two hunters and I'll tell him to make 2 mages and a priest.

Now if only I can get my keyboard laid out how my head says it should be Stupid G15's

Tell me about it, my first day of multiboxing was a total mess. Second day a little better but still wasn't sure of what I was doing sometimes :P
I guess it takes atleast a week to get everything setup the way you want it etc.

It does take quite a bit getting used to IMO. When I first started, I would check these forums every day just to find ANY way to make things easier/faster. You'll learn more macros than you probably ever thought possible before multiboxing. You'll start thinking of the game in a totally different way. All in all, I would suggest looking for anything in your current setup that seems "slow" or "inefficient" and looking for ways to improve. Some common things that seem inefficient:

- Typing Macros in every characters screen (Solution: Use a text editor offline to write your macros right into the macros.txt file in WoW)
- Main characters bag fills up too quickly (Solution: Use keyclones built in BOOBS and PiP to switch your "main" quickly when their bag fills up)
- Changing "mains" is clunky (Solution: look into using /focus macros for all your spells including /follow focus so that you can switch mains quickly)

Stuff like this made my experience a lot smoother and enjoyable.
