    Default Rumored advanced KVM product...

Someone once told me of a rather nifty KVM product that did the following, perhaps someone has heard of it.

The product reported allowed you to seemlessly move from one machine to another without any activation sequence. What would happen is, say you had 2 machines, each with their own monitor and this KVM product connecting your keyboard and mouse to both of them. Say PC 1 was on the right, and PC 2 was on the left. Now, if you were on PC 1, you would move your mouse from right to left, magicly "skip" over to the 2nd pc and the KVM would instantly switch over to the 2nd machine, as if you had a bizzare multi-monitor set up between 2 machines. So you scrolled the mouse left to right and back again, and where ever your 'mouse' was, determined what machine the keyboard was pointing too as well. Apparently it was cross-platform too, I'm not sure how that aspect of it worked.

It sounds almost mythical. But the individual swore it existed, or perhaps was in prototype phase. Anyone know of such a thing?

What is the difference between that and say "synergy"?

i believe you are describing synergy... but it is not a KVM... more of a KM...

Actually, by the looks of it, that might exactly be what he's talking about. Huh, well call me a fool, I didn't realize that's part of what everyone was talking about. Does Synergy conflict with KeyClone? I think I read something about that once here on the forums.

And boy do I look stupid.

no worries... synergy isn't that well known.

and yes, it works fine with keyclone.

the better question is... does it work fine with wow. the answer is no (it does a spinning whirly thing when you try to click-drag on a remote screen)... but does great for interacting with the remote desktop to start apps and such.

use keyclone for your in-game and you should be ok

Hrm, Doesn't work on WoW? So if i was going to use it to say, loot on a clone client or edit macros, it has problems?

yes, it has problems... but you can (sort of) work around it...

the problem is when you click-n-drag to move the camera. so don't. move the clone into position, mouse move, right click to loot.

So it's the right click and drag feature is flakey but left-click and drag is alright? Mainly mouselook? What about if I use a mouselook toggle button? Is their such a thing with WoW? I'll have to double check. With MMOg's, I typically customize the keyboard based on some old habits.

I just remembered a program that lets you use the mouse across several computers. I heard about it from Ronald Jenkees youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vy7LfPuXhRk

I'm not sure if this provides any benefit over any other program. Check it out and let me know.

This page gives you both the executable and the source code to my private version of Win2VNC. Win2VNC is a tool that allows you to use a single keyboard and mouse on more than one computer. It talks to a remote VNC Server (see http://www.realvnc.com/). For more detailed information on the original Win2VNC, please visit the authors site (see http://www.hubbe.net/~hubbe/win2vnc.html).

Win2VNC is now hosted on SourceForge.NET where it can benefit from the wealth of services provided by this site. Services include amongst others, mailing list, bug/support/patch submitting and tracking, file download and public accessible CVS.

Multiplicity does this. I've used it and it works well.

Octopus does this. I'm using it lately for multiboxing and it works well.

    Lots of options.
