Fraps Issues
Hey there peoples.
I've recently started recording boxed sessions of Eve. When I first started, Fraps would stop recording a client and automatically restart a new recording of the now active client to a new file.
Now it's not doing this. I have to stop and restart recording manually which is not always practical.
At the very least I'd like to do a continuous recording of whichever active client is up although having separate files was handy. (Frankly, I'm not even sure if it was meant to act that way in the first place, it may have been a happy glitch). What I've found so far
- Aero needs to be enabled (it is, I'm using Windows 7 and I'm using an Aero desktop - I've even gone in to the Admin tools to make sure that DWM, the service which manages the Aero feature is enabled).
- Fraps needs to be set to monitor the Aero desktop (it is).
The only things I can think that may have been factors are
- Update(s) from Innerspace/Isboxer
- Windows updates
- Revelations patches
I've tried going through each of these, but no joy.
Any clues to help me fix this would be appreciated.

What you're describing doesn't sound like something FRAPS would do because it doesn't know which window is "active" -- Its normal behavior is to hook onto the process that you tell it to and then stay there. I'm going to guess that you were doing a desktop capture and splitting the video files every 4GB which would have maybe made it look like it was recording different clients in different video files? I say this because you specifically mention that Aero must be enabled, which is only necessary for a desktop capture and not for hooking into a game client directly.
So, in order to get back to where you were you need to start recording your desktop before launching any game clients which will allow you to record whichever clients are on that monitor. If you ever stop recording and want to re-record the desktop again, you'll need to close down all of your game clients, start recording again, and then re-launch your character set.
You'll also want to make sure that FRAPS isn't hooking into any open web browsers when you are trying to record the desktop.
