Weighing the pros and cons of both, what do you think is better?

Price - 3s. Obviously this is a concern. If 3s is just about as good as 5s, 30 bucks less a month is worth considering.
    +1

Mount - 3s. There are no 5 man mounts yet.
Not that much of a big deal

Scenarios - 3s. There are no 5 man scenarios that I know of.
To be fair i don't like that much.

Arena - 5s. This probably favors multiboxing. 3s is a very difficult bracket to do anything with in arena.
2's work well with most classes (and a bit of luck) 3's can work with the right setup if your not going for rating now arena is a bit more puggble then before

wPvP - 5s. Numbers. Can't really say more than that. But three very well played characters are going to beat five poorly played characters.
from playing five and 3 and 4 five can help a lot here!

Dungeons - 5s. I wouldn't have to bring two randoms. This is a huge plus. I 5 boxed all the end time heroics in Cataclysm with success. But this could be a boon too if I had reliable good players. So 5s is guaranteed where 3s is a bit more luck.

hc dungeons atm are very easy. i would say as easy as wotlk. where 5 dps can do them fine.

Raiding - 3s. Honest opinion here. The less I'm boxing in a raid the better it is. FPS is better, I'm not looking much like an asshole boxing three and I do it very well. Just fewer variables to process here.

am with you with this. though five can be ok if not it does not take long to take 2 groups in.

Old Content - 5s. Some of them still need a heavy dose of 5s DPS. Everywhere else, 3s is better.

might be a bit harder with 3 but jsut might take a bit more time to work out the fights.

    Gearing - 3s. This isn't even debatable.
    goes down to what gear.

BGs - 3s. Mammoth mount removes the need for follow pretty much. I've also done 3s a longer time than 5s and like i

i find a way you don't need to use that mount anymore. to get round follow. i can do five in bg's easy with the right class. but three can be better sometimes as your keeping a low pofile

raiding, 3s brings far fewer variables in the controlled environment.
    three is easy.

Of course all of this is just my opinion and I guess it depends on what you do most.

i played both 3/4/5 i like five better to be fair now.

I would stick with 3 unless you really enjoy 5v5 or heroic 5 mans. Rewards are going away for 5v5 in WoD as trial of the gladiator is 3v3/RBG only so 5v5 will be regulated to what 2v2 status is now i.e. just for capping points/grinding gear and 2v2 is so much easier atm not to mention 5s is more expensive. They are still discussing removing ladders from the current system in WoD so ladders(rating) would be 3v3/RBG only and only from totg.

Who knows how boxing 3s will play out in WoD. Right now its really tough with all the aoe cc/low defensive cds, however they have said that they want to remove some cc so that would help boxers. With the hit point pools/stats going back to BC style who knows how it will eventually play out. In 3v3 I did really well in Woltk/Cata as dk/ret/ret, but in mop I generally get my ass kicked. So I play dk/holy in 2s which is still good to cap and can be fun, but now I mostly enjoy old content/achiv hunting with my wife in mop until pvp/stat changes happen in WoD.

On the occasional days where I feel like running a few random bgs, I go in with my dk/ret/ret (mammoth mount) and I still destroy the other side. I also believe in having an alliance team and horde team to switch between, keeps things fresh.

If youre on the fence I would say try them out for a month as see.
