Skuggo the Black people you know aren't American I'd assume...American stupidity does not recognize skin color ;) But yeah over here a big stink is raised over using it...and if a white guy says it because "I see Black people saying it all the time, I meant it like 'Wassup my nigga', like my bro, my friend!" doesn't ever cut it, whether the offended person says it or not lol; I personally believe it's best not to say it myself, it was originally a racial slur regardless of what it's become and some people still do get offended over it. In the end it's best to just avoid that kinda language ;p

First of all, The N bomb is almost always inflammatory. Of course things change. where as in the past the term was always used negatively, there is on occasion use for it in a positive sense (please note the conditions required for this are about as complex as the ones for creating worm holes).Originally Posted by 'Skuggomann',index.php?page=Thread&postID=46884#po st46884
It's all about context.
The way you are thinking of the word is likely to be in a way of expressing affection amongst your friends (or at least I hope it is), altho even there it's a fine line.
in this case however.. it is clearly meant as an attack implying that being black is a bad thing.
Even if for a moment we assume he implied the Chris Rock meaning of the word, (referring only to a state of being/personality amongst a minority of black ppl) is still highly inappropriate.
As for insults against white ppl.. well for the sake of equality they should be treated with as much contempt as the N word, but personally they don't irritate me as the words don't carry with them such a history, they are almost always presented in a comical sense and thus their impact is vastly reduced.
Personally I would only ever use words that are purely descriptive by nature, and those clearly aren't.
hehe actually I'd say stupidity in general doesn't, it's still no excuse :PSkuggo the Black people you know aren't American I'd assume...American stupidity does not recognize skin colorBut yeah over here a big stink is raised over using it...and if a white guy says it because "I see Black people saying it all the time, I meant it like 'Wassup my nigga', like my bro, my friend!" doesn't ever cut it, whether the offended person says it or not lol; I personally believe it's best not to say it myself, it was originally a racial slur regardless of what it's become and some people still do get offended over it. believe me a bigger stink is raised over here if something like that is said, but oddly enough I find Americans almost overly sensitive to this sort of thing. Sorry for the generalisation, but here's a quick story to clarify what I mean:
I remember I was over in America visiting my brother.. not sure how the conversation came about but we were discussing Guys (lots of girls around so they kinda steered the conversation that way). I mentioned something about Black guys and how I tend to find darker skinned ppl generally better looking (that's right, I am comfortable talking about my own gender that way) and some girl started giving me stick about how using the term "Black" was offensive etc etc.. so I said.. ok sorry (wasn't aware that was considered offensive).. "the term is African-American!"... *Pause*... "Erm.. I hate to seem stupid here, but what do you call Black ppl that aren't American?".. needless to say I think I broke her brain.
What I wanted to highlight is only a sense I get as an outsider, that many of you seem so worried about describing someone, that any reference to their skin colour sends shivers down your spine. As long as the reference to skin colour is not offensive, used to generalise offensively etc it's ok. Using origin as a means of description is likely to be more offensive.
