Anybody play WoW on a huge HDMI LCD TV before?

Hey,

In my quest for a huge monitor to multibox with, I found this video card:

It is a single video card with TWO Nvidia 9800GX GPUs - yes, two video cards built into one. Anyway, the video card supports HDMI output. My question: How good would WoW look on a top end 40" LCD TV with HDMI? Does anybody here play WoW on an HDMI TV? How is the quality?

I quad box on a 84in Projection DLP screen with a 22in LCD moniter for my clones . For roughly the same cost as buying a 40in LCD you can get a much bigger screen and have the movie theatre experance. (you can even do 3-D with it. and leme tell ya, Space games kick serious ass when you play them in 3-D on a 84in screen. )

The reason its not bigger was because I really didnt feel like knocking walls down to fit something larger in.

Yes I watch movies and play video games with my computer.

The quality isnt as good as a 1080p Projector. I only had about 1500$ to work with, a low end 1080p projector runs about 2,000$+

Everything is very crisp, and world of warcraft looks amazing, as does anything i watch with, or play on it.( xbox360, PS3)

For what it's worth, an HDMI output on a video card is nothing special. You can get a DVI-to-HDMI video cable for $20-30 (or more, depending on length). All that matters is if you are going to watch protected content (DVDs), then the video card has to support HDCP over DVI (which many do).

I'm 99% sure this only applies if you're using Windows Vista.

Or XP or Linux or Unix..... If the disc requires an approved application and the application requires it, then you need it no matter what OS you use.

It would be big. Thats about it. Even if you get a 1080p model, thats only 1920x1080 resolution and you would be looking at well over $1000. I have 2 Dell 20" Ultrasharp widescreens that I picked up refurbished for under $600 giving me 1680x1050 (x2). If you want bigger, get 24" Ultrasharps. If you are dead set on a huge display, get a 30". You are still in the $1200 range and will have a much better monitor.

Bought my 39" Samsung LCD screen for 1200 euro, and yes, more then worth it :thumbup:

So, the yare there and it is playable, very playable. Just got me a DVI to HDMI cable as said for 15 euro.

9800GX2 is the recently launched high end card from Nvidia. It is basicly 2x8800GTS stacked together. And you can SLi this card as well meaning the power of 4x8800GTS. And this card can be bought not just from eVGA but a lot of brands make them now.

As for LCD TV. 40" might just be too big to dual-box on. But I like the Projector approach as you can have your alts in the background wall while your main is on a LCD right infront of you.

Downside to Projector is the room has to be dark which sometimes makes life a little bit difficult to use your keyboard/mouse even if you had back lit keyboard.

have played it on my 50" plasma looks very nice but I prefer for multiboxing 3 screens.
