If so, very nice. If not, it might make sense to manually split them up beforehand where you have duplicates.

Much like account wide mounts caused an issue with people selling a full slate of mounts before they fixed that, I wonder how they're going to avoid a similar fiasco with this.
They could just treat it like in-game mail. If your character has any (mail in their mailbox) heirlooms either equipped or in their inventory, then you cannot transfer that character.
