AMD 7970 vs GTX 780
Good morning all, I currently have an AMD 7970 video card which I run Rift at about 20fps with high on the main client and the slaves all on low render. Would a GTX 780 make any difference in performance? My cpu usage sits at about 60- 70% and memory usage is also fine. Any thoughts greatly welcomed. BTW my main display is a Dell 30" monitor running 2560x1600.

The GTX 780 is quite a beast of a card. So much of a beast that nVidia won't allow their partners to put more than 3GB of video RAM on the cards because it rivals the performance of the $1,000 GTX Titan.
However, RIFT @ 2560x1600 x5 is a steep order -- An order I'm not sure any video card at the moment can fill.

Well I purchased the ASUS GTX780 which is supposed to be one of the top GTX780 cards and also runs cool from what the reviews are saying. My 7970 has been running close to 90c on load and so heats up my room pretty fast. During the testing of the 780 I will re-seat the cooler on the 7970 and see if that helps it's temps and then if the GTX780 does not cut it for Rift I will return it and suck it up with my hopefully cooler 7970.

Well I got the GTX780 installed and it is hitting a little over 30fps on the master with it set to ultra and the slaves all set to low. I have the card set to default settings due to my room is small and heats up and so the card is slightly underclocked running at GPU 941mhz.

Do you think I'd get better performance running 5 WoW accounts on my 2560x1600 monitor at 1920x1200? I get about 40fps on my master which drops down to 15fps at some times with my GTX 670 (4GB). I run them at 2560x1600 full-screen windowed. Would they run faster at 1920x1200 windowed (stacked?)

you would definitely get better performance if you ran at 1920x1200 stacked. I have run my game at lower res on the main monitor but I don't like the loss in sharpness and actual viewing area when running at the lower res.

1920x1200 window on a 30" 2560x1600 monitor is still pretty big. I think I tried that once and put the vfx windows along the bottom, and I don't remember getting an increase in performance, but back then I was running dungeons in pre-cata content and I didn't run into the performance hits I'm seeing now in world questing in Mists. I'll have to try it again.

If you don't get an fps increase then I would try changing the cpu core assignments.

Gtx 780 is a good card. I even bought a second one for boxing d3. Sli literally doubled d3 performance. On wow, however, I see maybe 20%-30% improvement . It is almost Titan, but not quite. Titan is about 10% faster I say. I was hoping for 5 wow instances all on ultra on 50+ fps with a $ 1k CPU + gtx780 x2. Reality is more like 35 fps. So maybe next iteration
